We stayed in Le Mulberry Hotel for 3 nights as a base for touring the Normandy Beaches and museums of the area. It didn't disappoint. If you have read my previous critiques of French hotels you will know that I am quite scathing of those who accept what I call 'Tat' as being French 'charm'. This is the real thing .... A charming hotel which is both modern and traditional at the same time.
Our first floor room was well appointed at the front of the hotel, with a good modern en-suite bathroom. The bed was large and comfortable, and the room modern and clean. The only criticism was the lack of wardrobe and drawer space for clothing.
The position of the hotel, 200 yards from the seafront, is handy, and there was (during our visit), plenty of on street and nearby parking. This may not be so freely available in peak periods however. Le Patron is amiable, speaks a bit of English, so with my bit of French, we were able to have a meaningful dialogue!! There is a very good on-site Restaurant which is open to all called 'P'tite Assietes', which I have reviewed separately.
Breakfasts are good quality continental style, with a good choice of fruit, yoghurts, breads, croissants, coffee etc.
Overall, a good standard, quality hotel which you will feel comfortable to stay in, and provides an excellent base for touring Normandy.
Yes, the church clock will strike repeatedly at 7.00am, but so what?? This small town has endured more than most of us will ever have to in our lifetimes, and It's more part of Arromanches than you are, so accept it !! Recommended !!

A real little gem of a place with a controlled , almost classic French menu. The meat dishes were particilualy well executed which, coupled to top class service from the only young waiter, makes this a must visit place when in Arromanches. The limited wine list was also very good with a page of all wines priced at 25 euros and then another at differential ( higher) prices as well. A good St. Emillion.

Old hotel and our room very small with little storage. OK for a short stay but not longer. Good shower and hotel clean. However the location was very central and the restaurant excellent. Breakfast was also very good. The service from the young man who served both drinks and in the restaurant was cheerful and efficient. The wine list was very good with the price of all bottles from the regular range at the same level - unusual and a good idea. There was a further list of more expensive wines with prices at a sensible level.

Room Tip: If staying for more than a few days, pick a superior room

We stayed for four nights in late September. Our group was two couples and we occupied the two top rooms. The rooms were spacious, the bathrooms large, but still a small shower. We were able to watch the lunar eclipse through the window in the ceiling. Very neat for the room and the beautiful church tower. There is no elevator and it is a real challenge walking up all those stairs. The breakfast had various items, including some proteins (meats and cheese). We booked for four nights and three dinners. There is a bit of a reduction if you do both room, breakfast and dinner. The food at the hotel was excellent. By the way, we had a bit of a view and the room had lots of light. Wi-fi was pretty spotty and not really reliable. I think there was a small TV in the room, but we didn't use it. Great jumping off point for exploring Normandy.
