Not just for ski season

Review of The Cliff Lodge
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 23, 2023
We stayed at the Cliff Lodge the first week of September. The weather was consistently 20 degrees cooler than Salt Lake City, which was nice because SLC was in the 80's during our stay.

We were in the SLC area to attend a 2-day event and decided to make it a 7-day getaway.

There are numerous hiking trails close by and Cottonwood, and other towns, with plenty of restaurants and shopping, are only a short drive.

We very much enjoyed the Oktoberfest Celebration at the Cliff Lodge, which was a welcome surprise.

The only two issues we had with our unit include:

1. Parking - Unless you use valet parking, you'll have a hike to the parking area. As we were told at check in, park anywhere you can find space, as long as it's not in the valet area, which takes up all the spots close to the lodge. There was only one light in the parking area and it was very dark. Not unsafe, just hard to navigate.

2. Shared balcony - If you exchange into a studio unit and stay on the ski hill side of the resort, you share a balcony with another unit. The balcony is small and has only two chairs. Probably not an issue during ski season but not ideal when the weather is nice enough to be outside. As the units do not have AC, we chose to leave our patio door partially open at night. This is a little unsettling, and kind of weird, to have your neighbors only a few feet away from your couch and bed. We were told this was the configuration only for "ski hill" side of the resort units. If we would have moved to the other side, we would have had our own balcony.

Lovely location with beautiful views and close proximity to other local activities. Fantastic hiking and things to do in summer as well as a winter ski resort. Octoberfest was fun but make sure you take advantage of all the available activities on resort during the weekend because they are closed during the week (at least when we were there).

This is a beautiful resort in a beautiful part of the Wasatch mountains. We try to go there at least once a year. We especially enjoy the people in the recreation department who work to provide indoor and outdoor recreation opportunities. We hiked every day with Sue, Julia, and Steve.

Awesome get away location during the hot summer months. The beds are the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Had an excellent dinner at the Aaria! We also used the spa facilities (steam rooms, hot tubs and pool), but the best was the yoga class. Great instructor (Tiffany), the class was just what I needed for a very rejuvenating weekend!

We stayed on the 9th floor, the spa level. It was a beautiful spacious room. The beds was so comfortable and the sheets felt amazing. The Mountain View was incredible! We loved having our room on the spa level which is so close to the pool, spa area which includes sauna, co-ed steam room, yoga, exercise room, outdoor pool and hot tub. We did a yoga class. Tiffany was our yoga instructor. She was so nice and welcoming. We loved her yoga class! It was a nice stretch, also very relaxing and we felt amazing after the class was over. We look forward to going back to stay at the Cliff at Snowbird.

Every year I spend a week at Snowbird with my family joining me here and there. We all live in the Salt Lake Valley. We always opt for the full kitchen and hot tub on the balcony. My favorite parts of the stay are the Cliff Spa (steam room specifically) the Family Pool and Summer activities (when there hasn't been an abundance of snow like this year). Biggest negative this year was the uncomfortable couch bed and one grumpy worker at the Cliff Spa who closed down the steam room 20-minutes before closing time one night. i do feel that there isn't really a family friendly restaurant where you can take grandkids and the game room is lacking compared to the one at Iron Blossom. I will be back next year!
