Mostly Good

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 27, 2024via mobile
Stayed for a nearby wedding. Very friendly staff, a great breakfast, and a cool outdoor seating area. The only negative was the condition of the floor in the room. There is no carpeting, but walking barefoot on the floor caused my feet to turn black. The floors don’t appear dirty but definitely need to be washed.

This was our first time at Tru hotel and was impressed by the room and the facilities. We liked how we could access our Netflix accounts from the TV. We also liked the free breakfast amenity, but felt the quality of the food could be better.

The beds were comfortable, but for some reason the fire alarm went off one night during our stay and we had to evacuate the building. I suppose someone may have been smoking in their room or pulled the alarm. There was little communication from the staff about what happened, and was a bit surprised the staff did not address this. Our kids were scared, but fortunately they were able to get back to sleep.

On our way to Colorado, last minute decision to stay here and late check in.

1. Hotel is as pictured on the web site. Bright , modern, spacious lobby with pool table and work stations. It’s two hotels in one with one side more long term.
2. Front desk clerk (Heather) was very friendly and helpful. She’s probably the reason we initially stayed here. She was covering everything by herself so she was busy.
3. The rooms were small but well organized. Very clean. Small fridge but lacking coffee maker in the room. The bathroom was also compact but again well organized
4. The beds were not comfortable, especially the sheets- not typical hotel sheets like worn out and didn’t stay on the bed.
5. The AC kept the room cool but when it clicked on and off all night it was very loud and would wake me up every time.
6. Although the room was overall quiet, we could hear the occupant next door coughing during the night. Also the street side is not as quiet.
7. The room had great shades that blocked out any light.
8. Elevators were fast and efficient. Never waited.
9. The gym was above standards. Large and had nice equipment to include a full rack of weights and a peloton bike. Again-really clean.
10. The breakfast was better than most as it seemed fresher. The only thing lacking was fresh fruit (outside your typical banana and apples).
Our stay here was short (8 hours). Although it had a lot of positive attributes, the most important part (good nights sleep) was absent- which is why I gave it three stars.

Room tip: Request a room on the parking lot side.

We only stayed one night here, but it was a nice stay. There was no early check-in but the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Kudos for the nice pillows. They had a wonderful outdoor seating area. The breakfast was a full breakfast with even breakfast sandwiches made up for you. There were several restaurants within walking distance. There were several homeless groups in the area, so use caution and lock everything up. Front desk personnel were friendly. I did say good morning to a couple of maids, but got no response, not even a smile.

I’ll start with the good. The complimentary breakfast was incredible, probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve had, ever.

The bed was very comfortable.

The TV was great. It’s always a nice experience when you walk into a room with a welcome sign on the tv with your name on it.

No complaints about the bathroom either.

Now, the less than good. First, when I checked in they should have told me that housekeeping was by request only. I got back to my hotel room at 5ish and nothing had been done even though I saw housekeeping doing rooms earlier in the day. When I asked the front desk at 5 pm that’s when they told me it was by request and at that point there was nothing they could do.

My refrigerator made periodic, loud noise. It woke me a few times over night.

There were no cups in the hotel room. I can’t think of the last time I didn’t have a cup in a hotel room. When I realized at 12:30 at night after getting back to my room, I remembered I had a plastic water bottle in my truck and had to walk back out to the parking lot to get it.

Finally, they don’t police the parking lot. As I got back one night there was a group of late teens/early 20s that were walking down the street and then walked into the parking lot to their cars. By the time I got up to my room at 11ish (the second night) they were blasting their car basses. No chance of falling asleep to that so I turned a movie on.

I’d probably try the Courtyard Marriott across the street next time.

Room tip: Realize you MUST request room service. Huge disappointment. Also, make sure you bring your own items to drink out of.

The staff at this hotel is great. However, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
First off, I don’t know what these other reviews are talking about. The breakfast is disgusting. The powdered eggs smell like vomit. The waffles have a sour tang taste. No bananas, no bacon. Really poor breakfast.
The biggest problem was traffic noise. There is a road in front of the hotel that cars race on. The bridge has no where for police to monitor speed so cars roar across the bridge all day and night. Theres lots of Dodge Challengers and big loud trucks in this city.
The ski bus stop is right out the door and down the street one half block.
Lobby is well stocked with necessities and snacks.
The rooms are small. The beds are good. There is no closet.
I gave it 3 stars, 1 extra star for the great staff.
