One of the worst hotel stays I've ever experienced. Staff was polite but there were problems that couldn't/wouldn't be addressed:
- The rooms were hot and the AC didn't work. This apparently is a problem throughout the hotel as I heard similar comments from other guests. Even after telling them, there was nothing done. Windows couldn't be opened either (they were screwed shut). I'm not asking to sleep in a refrigerator, but it had to be between 75 and 80 degrees in my room with the unit set on cool.
- When I got there, there was no soap in the bathtub/shower, nor was there a bath mat. The tub was extremely slick, and I fell in the shower the first morning. I told the manager, (who was wearing a T-shirt), and he apologized, saying the bath mats "were on backorder." Is safety on backorder too? With the soft water and slick tub, I could easily have been injured. Luckily I wasn't, but I have NEVER fallen in a bathtub, EVER. They did "find" bath mats for me and another in my party the next day.
- Wi-fi performance was spotty, making it difficult or impossible to do basic business from the room.
- Our party (three of us on business) stayed three nights and we all had hot rooms and slick tubs. The manager offered to comp me my room one night (for the tub episode) but I think he actually charged an extra night instead. If it wasn't so much trouble (our schedule was tight), we would have changed hotels.
I'm sure I could nit-pick more (e.g., the bath towels weren't much better than shop rags, and there's more), but it was apparent that the hotel had been recently re-branded a HI Express and the owners/managers were in a hurry to get it re-opened. I for one don't like to be the guinea pig on a "shakeout cruise."
