When visiting Tulum in April, we were looking for an "off the beaten path" place from which to explore the beaches and cenotes and ancient ruins of the Mayans. We chose Casa Selva Orquideas because it was out of town and the price was right. We arrived after dark but Juan was waiting for and expecting us. What a fantastic surprise to find this quiet, exotic, romantic cabana all ready and prepared for us. We fell asleep to the sounds of the jungle and awoke each morning to a delicious breakfast served poolside with eggs and bacon, coffee and juice, and homemade pastries. Chito and Erika were so knowledgeable and helpful to map out our explorations each day with great advice to save time and money and not miss some of the less touristy attractions that were full of history and fun and lots of local flavor. We also enjoyed a delicious full course dinner that was very reasonably priced. The pool was refreshing and the animals entertaining. We were amazed at the absence of bugs too. The bed was very comfortable and the cabana decorated with warm, tasteful Mexican colors. Great shower and bathroom too, all private and spacious.Juan, Chito and Erika couldn't have been more accommodating. They clearly are enjoying what they do, taking care of guests and living the dream! We definitely will be back, there is so much to do and see. We'd love to build a little place in their jungle and come back every year! We've traveled around the Caribbean and must admit this is one of our favorite spots, a hidden gem.

My husband and I spent five days here for our 30th anniversary.... not enough time. I have known Erika for over 20 years. I watched the construction of this jewel through photos posted on facebook, but to be here and see what she and Chito have created.... every little artistic touch of tile, wooden door handles, hand painted walls, the multi-colored hammocks... it took my breath away. Where else can you have breakfast al fresco where a peacock wanders by?

Everyone else has talked about the food, the beauty, the surroundings. It's all true and one final note -- Macario Gomez is perfectly situated between Tulum and Coba, so day trips in either direction are easily done. AND the best buys on hammocks are right along Avenida Coba, outside the door.

We spent the final two days of our Yucatan trip with Erika, Chiot and Juan and were very lucky to do so. The place is quiet, clean, it was lovely in the evening to sit out and enjoy Juan's cooking and - special tip! - Margaritas :-) Erika speaks fluently English and gave as so many good tips what to go for, also things you probably would not read in a guide book. Our cabana was very comfortable, we very much enjoyed it. Best go by car.

This visit was a highlight of our 10-day trip for sure! The grounds have been lovingly built and are beautifully maintained. Erica and her husband are the most welcoming and gracious hosts. Adorable, gentle animal friends abound. Breakfasts and dinners were scrumptious. The rooms are spacious and beautiful, with great showers and comfy beds, and there's nothing like getting lulled to sleep by the surrounding jungle. What a fabulous and inspiring stay!!!

We have stayed in the Cabana in the jungle two times and both were wonderful experiences. Chito, Erika and Juan are wonderful hosts in a relaxing atmosphere. The meals prepared by Juan are not to be missed . There are also some good places to eat in Macario Gomez. Coba is close by and you can rent a bicycle and ride around the ruins or visit some out of the way Cenotes that Erika and Chito can direct you to. We will be back !

Room Tip: We stayed in the Cabana it was perfect !
