My wife & I (upon the recommendation of some friends) decided to visit this cemetery as a means of exploring yet another history-driven facet of our city. Gorgeous grounds, neat views, and just overall peace and quiet make this cemetery a worth-while place to visit and contemplate on the brevity of life.

Very interesting look into the past of Houston's leading families. The money they spent on burying themselves is amazing. Great place to stop and imagine their lives and what they must have been like.

We’ve been to a LOT of cemeteries (mostly to pay our respects to soldiers), but this cemetery is breathtaking. Old Houston family grave sites. Howard Hughes is there (look for the fence or it’s hard to find) = #11 on the map. It’s extraordinarily peaceful. Just magnificent.

It's a cemetery and I apologize for the pun in the title. BUT, it's a Great cemetery with graves of a large number of historical figures associated with the city of Houston, including many famous doctors(Debakey), politicians (Hobby) and of course the infamous Howard Hughes. Many more. The grounds are immaculately maintained and the century old trees defy description. If you are lucky you can arrange a tour through Preservation Houston.

Many people go here as it's where Howard Hughes is buried (his grave site is fenced in and locked, so you can't get super close to it). There are lots of neat markers and, being an older cemetery, it's great for walking around in and exploring.
