Being from South Louisiana, my husband is quite the gumbo critic, and rightfully so. We enjoyed our visit to the Gumbo Bar, and tried many items since it was our first visit. First off, the beverages are served in cold glasses which is a lovely touch! The boiled shrimp were fantastic! The wedge salad was also delicious! The seafood gumbo needed a little more flavor and spice... we doctored it up and it was good. It was actually Excellent reheated the following day. The pistolette was a little too Creole for my husband's liking, but it was certainly tasty. We will definitely return. The cooking was authentic to "old-time" recipes, and the service was friendly and genuine.
