The Kimbell Art Museum is in the heart of the cultural district in Fort Worth. It is like a jewel box--with a small representation of the world's art treasures. It is much loved by the citizens of the city. First, the architecture of the building must be noted. The cycloid- vaulted concrete construction by famed architect Louis Kahn is a treasure in itself. Once inside, note the lighting and play of inner and outer spaces. The art collection may not be large, but what is strived for is pure excellence. Iconic representations of categories of art can be found here. One could gasp at every display. The museum has a wonderful lunch area and museum store. And it is free, always. It is closed most evenings and on Mondays. Do try to come. Visit the Modern Art museum too while you are here. People are friendly and welcoming.
