Second visit. Lovely central hotel full of character but tastefully mixed with contemporary. Great food choices, lovely relaxing residents lounge and lively bar. Nice spacious room, this time in the town house, which is literally next door.

There are two parts to this hotel - The Bull and The Townhouse. The Bull is more traditional and offers casual dining in The Coach House, and The Townhouse has modern rooms and fine dining in The Loft.

We booked directly with the hotel for a Saturday night dinner bed and breakfast package for The Town House & Loft, which was a great deal. It turned out that there was a glitch in their system which meant that their website allowed me to book a midweek offer at the weekend. They offered me alternative dinner bed and breakfast packages, all of which required me to pay between an extra £30-£100, despite it being their error. However, we settled for a stay at The Bull which still offered a good deal for dinner bed and breakfast.

The food at dinner and breakfast in the Coach House was very nice. There was a good selection at both times and average priced. The pub was traditional, with an open fire and hotel guests could also sit in the residents lounge which was a lot quieter.

The location is right on the main street in Beaumaris, there are a number of shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from. It wasn't particularly noisy outside until we woke up about 2am when a couple were having a screaming match at each other right outside the hotel. This is obviously not the hotel's fault, but potentially an issue if you're a light sleeper. Also, our room (Dr Johnson) was directly above the pub which was quite noisy.

There are a couple of 1 hour parking meters near to the hotel. We parked in the 24 hour car park right by the ferris wheel and carried our stuff over to the hotel, it was only a couple of minutes walk.

Our room was nice, with two windows looking out over the main street. The bathroom had recently been modernised and there was a nespresso machine in the room. The building is very old, so the floorboards do creak but it adds to the charm! We did experience a loud noise in our room on a few occasions, I think it was when the neighbouring room flushed their toilet.

Upon checkout, we noticed that the deposit we paid when booking hadn't been deducted, so make sure you double check.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would recommend to others for a short break (with earplugs).

Room Tip: Avoid rooms above the pub if you're a quiet sleeper

It does state on the hotel website there is no parking on site. On arrival we were met with the many ways we could park the car near the hotel. This started from one hour on street while we unpacked to moving to short stay then 6pm to 9am free local parking and finally 24 hour parking a few minutes walk away. Frustrating! We were in the lilac room in the town house across the road from the Bull. This was clean and good size. The reed diffuser was overpowering and found a home in the wardrobe! The bathroom wasn’t the best. The toilet seat was completely removable and totally uncomfortable to sit on as a result. Not quite sure what the toothbrush holder was doing screwed on the wall near the floor next to the toilet either, very odd?! There were no curtains, but there was a net curtain which we could see out of. This had a lovely red colour coded lighting effect in the evening which lit up the building from outside. However, this made showering/getting changed etc uncomfortable. As we could see out onto the Main Street directly out of the window, no doubt people could see in too. It left us with the feeling we could have been in a brothel?!
It rained through the night and we were awoken about 2am to the pinging/dripping noise from within the bedroom. This went on much of the night which resulted in us getting very little sleep. Annoying!
The breakfast was excellent as were the staff and service.
The reception staff on arrival was complacent attitude, and on departure, although we had filled in the satisfaction questionnaire ( to which we have had no response yet) gave us the opinion of not really being bothered/interested
However, we can fully recommend the butchers across the road :-) delicious braising steak!
We booked on booking.com and didn’t eat in the hotel because we discovered had we used the hotel website we could have got a better deal with their package deals. Effectively costing us £55 more for dinner bed and breakfast. Lesson learnt there!
In our opinion this is not the five star that we are used to. Beaumaris is a beautiful place to stay though and the tapas at the Midland was to die for :-)

This little gem is certainly worth a visit! We came here for a special meal expecting good food however, it surpassed expectations. The food was delicious and presentation on point. We were provided with complementary dishes from the chef between courses which added to the delight of the experience. Staff were friendly and attentive. Certainly an idyllic restaurant for an occasion (make sure you book to avoid disappointment).
I am aware that there are two restaurants at the Bull, my experience being at the Loft. Highly recommended and we look forward to returning.

We have visited the Bull a few times. We ate 2 nights in The Loft restaurant which was very nice. We were awoken in the early mornings by the seagulls, are they noisy! Breakfast was really good and luckily we had good weather.
