I am a nightmare to feed with all my dislikes. I was more than satisfied with a lovely, freshly cooked meal accommodating all my awkwardness. Excellent. They really went the extra mile.

It's hard to find a restaurant that's not part of a chain or is not formulaic in it's approach.
How pleased was I to discover this restaurant where you are not treated as a 'cover' with a 2 hour time slot?
Warmly decorated, proper tablecloths and napkins. Warm ambience. Other patrons clearly having a good time.
Our hostess, the only waiting staff member, was warm and attentive.
The spacing between courses was great, giving us time to chat and let the last course digest a little.
Set menu prices with lots of options, limited drinks menu but very competitive pricing for both drinks and food.
The menu was an unusual mix however the food was extremely good and unpretentious.
Hubby and I started with a warm goats cheese salad, parents had haggis starter.
My braised ox-cheek main was very good, hubby was very pleased with his chorizo mashup and I've never seen the parents clear their Chicken Balmoral plates quite so efficiently.
We even managed puds: bread pudding (like a clootie dumpling), pancakes and maple syrup and cheese.
With a bottle of wine, several beers and soft drinks the bill was still under £100.
Fantastic value.
My only worry is that with this kind of pricing and without more local support, this wee gem of a restaurant might not be sustainable.

The starters were fairly good but the main corses were dissapointing. Curry was watery and certainly nothing special. The desserts were tolerable.

We are so sorry that you had a bad experience at The Chefs Eye . We take pride in our food and I am sure if you had highlighted this to our waitress we would have offered you an alternate meal .The curry is a homestyle Bangladesh dish and is a favourite with our regular customers. All reviews are taken on board and as we change our menu on a regular basis we will certainly look at the choice of desserts .. if you wish to contact us direct to discuss your experience please feel free to email us .

I hosted 28 friends & family at the venue, both the Chef (Faisal) and Front of House (Shona), were very accommodating. I met them a number of times in the weeks running up to the Party and they were able to provide advice & support regarding liaison with guests, creation of a bespoke menu, catering for specific dietary needs, playlists, party balloons, cake and seating arrangements. On the night of the event all the guests were impressed with the venue and throughly enjoyed their meals. A great night was had by all & we look forward to visiting the Chefs Eye again.

At first sight this small restaurant tucked away in an unlikely location seems to be offering a pub menu - one of each of a variety of dish types. But the owner/chef is a food fanatic, using only fresh ingredients from the best sources, eager to make his offerings interesting and different, happy to talk about what he is doing and to modify ingredients to suit the individual customer. He started with a very ambitious menu that was perhaps too exotic for a new venture but with encouragement can do great things. Well worth eating here and exploring what he does and might do. I understand he's also happy to cater for events etc.
