We have had to take our time to review this hotel as its hard to describe our stay in a way that would truly do it and its staff justice. Having done over 700 reviews this is the first time we wished we could give 6stars and we don't give too msnt 5 stars.

Last week in July Ireland had a heatwave and at the end of the week we arrived to this small family run hotel in the wilds of connemara.
Our welcome by the owner at reception was warm friendly and instructive of the covid do's and dont's.
We were also asked if possible to leave the outside areas for the locals who weren't allowed inside due to covid and we were happy to oblige.

There's a saying that when there's crisis the true skills and professionalism of staff show out.
Within 20 min of arriving a massive thunder cell passed over the hotel for 2 hours in which 3 months of rain fell. The road and carpark firstly turned into a river and then a lake. The owners hubby donned wellies and piggyback Ed staff into and out of the hotel. I have never seen dedication like this in my life. Through the night he could be seen looking after guests property.

Meanwhile while under stress inside guests were mostly oblivious of the efforts outside. Socially spaced evening meals and drinks were served efficiently and professionally. And at top quality.

Occasionally we could catch a glimpse of our young servers quite upset but diligently doing their duties so we spoke quietly to them to try to be reassuring.

But they were not upset for themselves but clearly have an overwhelming love and sense of protection for their employers the like we have never seen before. Much respect to you one and all.

There is no a mount of words I could possibly put on here that will show how special this hotel is. I'm far from sentimental but this is not a normal hotel stay. Yes there's the lovely rooms, the beautiful little nearby beaches the fab lunches and dinners but

It's the feeling that we were enveloped in a loving, protective hug for 24 hrs despite mother nature's attempts.

Thank you sincerely to all of you.
We will be back soon

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in August 2021 for a staycation. The hotel is a real hidden gem and in a beautiful location. Only a short drive to kylemore abbey and Connemara national park. The hotel staff really make this place, they are always up for a laugh, always have a smile on their face and go above and beyond to be as helpful as possible. Lastly the food is beautiful and a great choice for breakfast.

We’ll definitely return in the near future.

As a result of reading a review in a national newspaper we booked a three night stay at The Carna Bay Hotel. We had never been to Carna before. When we arrived, what a surprise? We found a lovely friendly family run hotel. Absolutely spotless in every aspect. The restaurant/ bar food was excellent, if the menu may have been slightly restricted, presumably a restriction. What was available was very well presented and cooked to perfection, a blue stake can be difficult, the seafood too was faultless the chef was obviously on top of his game.
The room had comfortable beds, spotlessly white duvets and tea and coffee facilities.
One of the hotel's best assets were the staff. The servers and bar staff were so friendly and efficient the whole time. Nothing was ever a problem and always with a smile behind their masks.
Several beautiful white beaches minutes away from the hotel
Congratulations to the Rogers family, we couldn't recommend Carna Bay Hotel enough.
On our way home we booked again for October ...... Can't wait !!

Stopped off at the Carna Bay hotel for lunch. Was greeted by very friendly and well presented staff. Food was excellent and a wide choice was available from both bar and restaurant menu. The hotel is very nicely decorated and in pristine order. Would highly recommend the Carna Bay hotel and I’m looking forward to returning again.

A comfortable stay with fabulous food. Staff very friendly. We brought along our dog Sniff and when leaving we received a gift voucher for our next stay from the manager. Overall a great experience. Very far out but would stay again! Thanks

Room tip: Call hotel to book if booking with pets, need to as you’ll require a pet friendly room, on booking websites doesn’t give this option.
