I was fortunate to be in town to catch a performance by Lean Ensemble of The Glass Menagerie in October at the Main Street Theatre. This recently formed theatre production group draws upon the talents of a local director and a mixture of local and distant highly qualified actors. Not only were the roles played superbly by those on stage, but the director was able to capture the story without unduly distressing the audience, which could happen with this particular play. What made the experience even more unique was the format where after the play, the five actors sat on stage with the director and answered questions from the audience about the playwright and the performance process. I look forward to their next production in January!
