From start to finish you are impressed by what the museum has to offer. Great customer service by staff, Great exhibits, and amazing activities offered. We came here on there second shift Tuesday which offered specials savings for after hours admission. The price for the admission and activities was excellent! We enjoyed all the exhibits. I really liked the 4-D theatre it was really fun and kept our attention from beginning to end. I really liked that your were able to walk on the balcony and look through the telescope to view the sky. The staff was very informative as to what we were looking at and what to look for while looking through the telescope. I am always looking forward to see what new events the museum is offering.

Good for a quick lunch in a pleasant atmosphere. Wraps were very good, cookies were great! Nice city views from the windows. The museum has many exhibits including geologic history of the area, sea life, railroads, SC history, 4D theater shows, and a planetarium.

Very impressed with the many elements that make SC what it is today, especially for newcomers and visitors. They cover it all without overdoing it in a very tastefull way. They also offer many shows to enhance your visit. Very well done.

As a native Columbian, I've been to this museum plenty of times for school trips and to see the special exhibits--they're all great! There are plenty of activities for kids to enjoy and a lot of interesting artifacts and information for adults. They also have a fantastic gift shop where you can buy lots of different South Carolina products--the Cotton Mill Exchange. What I'm most impressed with, however, is their facilities rental opportunities! They have spaces ranging from meeting rooms for 10 people up to the ability to reserve the entire museum for large functions like galas and weddings! One of the coolest things I've ever seen was a wedding that had to be relocated after the hurricanes that devastated Puerto Rico. The couple was able to have their ceremony in the Planetarium and they cast the Puerto Rican sky onto the ceiling! What a fantastic detail and an awesome story to tell about the day of your wedding!

When my kids were little we would take them toe the State Museum nearly every week. They have great exhibits and a play area for the kids. It is a very large space so even on a crowded day you don't feel cramped. My kids loved the interactive 3D movie selections that are offered. The recently installed, state of the art planetarium is huge and amazing. They offer discounts to homeschoolers which is, in my opinion, is one of the best parts!
