It is the resting place of 6 Civil War Generals, soldiers and sailors, governors, signers of the ordinance of secession, mayors of Charleston, Lawyers, doctors and the list is endless. This cemetery is truly a gem for Charleston Sc . For anyone who loves history this is it . Taking my 2 boys who love history as much as myself this was a highlight of our trip. My wife loves the bridge so when we visit there always a nice walk in store. Southern grace is in the air at this beautiful cemetery .. Did I mention the men who were on the Hunley are resting here ? History everywhere . One of my favorite places in Charleston Sc

South Carolina and Southern history in every square inch of this lovely cemetery. After touring all the house museums and taking the Historic Charleston Foundation walking tour, I could appreciate this cemetery so much more. History matters, and this is Charleston history.

Went to visit graves of the brave men from the CSS Hunley. Great photo opportunities with huge bent trees and old tombstones. Watch out for the alligators!

This very atmospheric old cemetery is peaceful and beautiful with much history to share. Wander through the trees dripping with Spanish moss, stop to read the tombstones, see the graves of the crewmen from the Huntley, watch the birds swooping over the ponds. Definitely worth a visit. A bit hard to find but well worth it.

It's got some really old and historic gravestones, the spirit of confederacy is felt there. Some mausoleums and graves are quite eerie. But it's worth a visit if you're into the more macabre things.
