The market is a fun and interesting experience. Some vendors sell the same products, but there is quite a bit of variety to look at and many artists! I spent way too much on hand made soaps, lotions and even a couple pieces of artwork and assorted food items. I highly recommend checking it out!

This is a nice market offering a wide variety of merchandise ranging from typical souvenirs to higher end items that you may find in gift shops. There are some booths with items unique to South Carolina including food items, sweet grass baskets, hand made soaps, Gate jewelry, etc.

You can take an hour to walk through or spend more time.

I was thrilled to find lots of handcrafted products here. There is jewelry, candles, real straw baskets (not made in China) and lots of Charleston-related items. Very nice place to visit!

We encouraged our students to save their money for trip to Charleston City Market. Fifth graders found little to compete with the trinkets at Museum gift shops and gas stations. We most enjoyed the sweet grass basket stalls and the candy shop. It is a long way from front to end of the market. Adults can appreciate it more. Books, baskets are the most “Charleston” things there. Giant gift shop.

Really interesting craft market with lots of imported items. Not exactly local merchandize though a good mix of touristy and imported stuff. I had gone to a few shops to buy a sun hat and found a great deal there. Nice way to get out of the mid-day sun.
