Review of Dulcie's Cottage

Dulcie's Cottage
Ranked #1 of 71 Restaurants in Merimbula
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$3 - US$15
Description: Dulcie's Cottage is a bar that is set in a 1925 weatherboard cottage on Merimbula Main Street. The kitchen offers a cool, concise menu of local oysters and American-style burgers, all of which are prepared in a restored 1950's caravan that sits in the bar's al fresco area. Enjoy a burger, beer or classic cocktail on a bench under the jacaranda tree in the front yard or choose a seat on the deck overlooking Merimbula Lake. NB: Unfortunately at this stage due to licensing conditions, all children under the age of 18 are not permitted by law on the premises after 8pm, even with parents. Dulcie's Cottage has a general bar licence, and in order to allow minors to enjoy our venue, a minors' authority approval is needed. This approval has been applied for and we are waiting to hear back. The classification of the "General Bar" is what differentiates us from the restaurants and clubs as they have different liquor licences and conditions attached to their premises. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this causes. It sure is a bummer for us.

Get the babysitter in and go have a burger and beer(s) in the evening, best tunes and atmosphere in town.

This is such a groovy little bar/restaurant fashioned out of an old 1920’s homestead with an amazing jacaranda tree right in the middle of the outside beer garden! The kitchen is an old retro caravan to the side of the outside tables. My partner and I had drinks and dinner here on a Thursday night on the recommendation of our Airbnb host. The place was pretty busy for a Thursday night and the tunes they were playing were great. Everything from Travelling Wilburys to AC/DC to to jazz. I had a Bloody Mary and my partner had a margarita. Both were yummy but the best was yet to come! I had the BBQ beef burger with jalapeños and coleslaw and hands down it was the best burger I have ever had! Hubby had the fish burger which was grilled ling fish with seaweed mayo...delicious and the fries were out of this world! Crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and you can tell they change their oil regularly as the taste was so amazing! Would highly recommend this place and will go back again on our next holiday down the South Coast to Merimbula! I can only imagine how great the vibe would be on a Friday/Saturday night!

The best burgers between Melbourne and Sydney. Great place to slow down and relax and enjoy yourself.
