“Great camping spot!”

We were looking for a place to meet in Oklahoma near the interstate and found this park. We were tent camping and found a spacious site in the first campground, right next to the rock wall yet still with a nice shade tree. The price was only $14/night. There was a swimming pool but it had closed for the season. One of the hiking trails was under construction but we enjoyed hiking the other one. We had a dog along and she got sand burrs in her paws on the trail so beware of that. We didn’t fish but others were taking advantage of that opportunity. Nice, clean bathrooms with hot showers available.

Nice visitors center but staff was abrupt
Too muddy to take a short hike but looks like they are building a concrete path

We happened onto this State Park quiet by chance. We were so glad we took the time to see it. It was an awesome drive not far from I-40 near the town of Hinton, OK. Beautiful place!

I visited this park 30 years ago. Traveling through the area, I made a return trip. This park us a hidden gem that's totally unexpected. Grab lunch in town and take a couple of hours to enjoy its seclusion and beauty.

What I beautiful place. You need to pay to enter the national park but it's worth it - I think ours was $20. We drove all the way to the bottom and took a short walk. We didn't camp but there were many camping spots I wish I knew in advance. We drove back up stopping at all the view points. Most enjoyed one nearest the entrance the rock face is breath taking and you can take time at the water front. There are toilets and picnic areas avaliable.
