So I found this pub on tripadvisor.
Went in at 7pm on a Friday and it was dead.
Luckily it picked up later on when the live music started it had a great vibe!
Staff were lovely, obviously got on well together.
We ordered food which was surpisingly good. It actually is a gastropub. I recommend the shroomaloumi burger.
Beer garden is big and lovely, although we didn't go out there this time.
You do have to go down steps to get to the toilet and garden so not ideal for prams/wheelchairs.
Live music was great as well.
All in all I was happy to be in that pub and would come back!
This is a large pub off the beaten track in a residential area within 5 mins from East Croydon.
It has a small but decent selection of ales, and a reasonable food menu, the chips are proper chips, fat and fluffy, not greasy.
The pubs real USP is their live music policy where they get in amateur bands of really good quality free of charge. However its the free Sunday jazz sessions where they get jazz bands of high quality, bands that could play at Dalston's Vortex and you pay £15 however you see them for free, which is an absolute bargain and great way to start a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Great Service, Lovely staff, Lovely garden, great atmosphere, good prices. food looked lovely. Uxpected oasis close to E Croydon station and so nice when so much of Croydon isnt.
I consider myself lucky that this lovely place is local to me. Myself, Hubby and 2 friends went for a roast last Sunday and I can;t speak highly enough!
I called ahead to book and the person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful. We had 1 veggie and 1 vegan in the party and so often this makes things tricky esp with a roast, tends to be a case of just removing the meat! Couldn;t be further from the truth here the veggie and vegan options were lovely proper meals and very tasty. Meat eaters are also well served.
Portions are very generous! be warned! all really fresh and tasty no soggy veg! lovely garden band playing inside, great friendly service too.
Actually as I write this I am worrying everyone will go and I won;t get a table in future!!
