In the past this pub has been awful... but a few weeks ago we decided to take a walk up with the dog.. I have to say the friendly reception from Beth was just lovely and on every visit since she has remembered us which is nice.. we’ve had a meal I have to say the service was slow but we were there for the night so didn’t cause an issue... the gents in my family said the mixed grill was really good!
there was also a live band on in the lounge which was good. everyone’s friendly in the bar and as dogs are allowed it’s a nice touch especially on these lighter nights for a quick drink! The new management are really trying especially Beth she has great engagement with customers and also with the kids.. Easter weekend was great for the kids.
I really do hope you turn this pub around you are making a great start, give the place a chance!

Went with family (wife, son and grandchildren) for lunch on Easter Sunday. We all went for the Carvery, which was very good - very suprised to see a choice of 4 meats!
The staff were very friendly, the manager personally asked us how everything was.
From chatting with the manager, we learned that he only took over the management a couple of weeks ago and was planning a "opening night" for the 7th April (posters anounceing a live singer on the date were placed around the bar area).
If chance will certainly attend.
All in all we were plesently supprised and enjoyed our visit to the Wigginton - the "Wiggy" as the locals call it!

Our family went for easter Sunday lunch, we had heard it was under new management. We had read some bad reviews while under previous managers so didn't know what to expect. What a great surprise to find the new landlord and staff were extremely professional, enthusiastic and couldn't do enough for the customers. He has only been in around three weeks so give this guy and his staff chance to turn the pub around and make it a place that people want to visit. After chatting with Karl ( the landlord) and listening to all he has planned, we were very impressed. So everyone less of the negative comments - if you are not happy with something let them know while you are there so they can put it right for you and give them a chance to make a success of it.

Came here today for Easter Sunday with family and children. Fantastic management polite and friendly and welcoming. The food was nice we all enjoyed the carvery. Kids had fun making stuff and doing the easter egg hunt....... People need to remember it's under new management they need time to make the place on the map. No one on earth can turn a place around in a week. If people are so negative then speak to the management insted of putting a bad review....... Will Deffo call again, in fact next week.......

I was really looking forward to going back to the Wiggy as the meal we’d had just before Christmas was horrific and I’d hoped with new managers again; the pub would be somewhere good to go once more. It wasn’t.

4 adults ; 2 children ; ordered the lunchtime specials (3 courses each).

The prawn cocktail was a pile of prawns in overly tomato flavoured Marie Rose sauce and a lettuce leaf on a small plate. No care given at all just plonked on a plate. No bread and butter, it looked awful.
Breaded mushrooms were burnt and some were bits of batter with no mushrooms in and were greasy.
Mains weren’t any better. Chicken was so tough; we had a ten year old trying to bite into it and pull it to get the chicken off!
Dessert was chocolate fudge cake which tasted like chemicals. Nasty meals and served like a 5 year old. This chef won’t be getting into Masterchef any time soon!
And what was worse about these meals? The moody girl who sneered at me and my friend and couldn’t raise a smile. Customers don’t won’t to see a miserable face when they’re out to enjoy a meal! Where’s your customer service skills? And the wait was ages. My friend’s husband was taking the starters plates to the bar and asking how long our mains would be; then only 4 desserts came out and we had to go up and ask for the others. It’s my nearest pub and will not be going back here. Such a shame no one can make this pub work. Hire a decent chef, smile and you’re halfway there!! Back to the Riftswood it is!
