Chosen partly because of the close proximity to the East Coast Main Line. I’d seen this place several times from the train. The frequent trains – about every 30 mins or so, during the day – do not disturb you. They pass remarkably quietly.
Most other reviews are justified, some with rather serious grumbles.
Plus points – welcoming owners, very quirky, old décor, a step back in time, indeed! (But none the worse for that, whilst everything worked). Excellent breakfasts, short walk from the station, great views of the River Tweed & the Royal Border Bridge, secluded position, adequate parking, plenty of good eating places in Berwick (at least two good Indian restaurants. Magna Tandoori & Amran’s)
Minus points – Berwick is remarkably hilly, a steep climb up from the river walk. The well worn fixtures & fittings would get you down after a couple of nights and the plumbing is not great, no guest lounge, limited WiFi in the hallway,More
