Owner description: The House of Hardy Museum displays ta variety of fishing tackle and associated products which were manufactured by Hardy's from the very beginning of the business in 1872 right up to the present day current products being manufactured today. The museum is not just a celebration of all things relating to Hardy's but of British manufacturing at its very best. The "Perfect" display cabinet is testament to a British design from the late 1800's which is still in production today!

I've been a lifelong user and collector of Hardy tackle and wanted to visit the shop and museum for years. The photos on this site show certain rods and reels being made, but none of that was evident to me when I visited.
Saturday afternoon may not have been the best time to visit and it was all a bit quiet and uninspiring. Even a few interactive exhibits showing how a reel brake works, and the difference between fly and bait casting rod blanks would add interest and maybe inspire more people to value the products and the brand.

A wonderful small museum giving a great insight into the history of Hardy. It takes probably 10-15 minutes to do, but for any fishing fanatic this is a must do!

Equally matched by an outstanding fishing store!

Who would have thought that the House of Hardy Museum could have been so informative. A business at the for front of fishing tackle design and manufacturing display products which have been produced by Hardy's for over a century. The staff were in incredibly informative and knowledgeable, they know there Hardy history. I was persuaded to go with friends, didn't think it would be any good but was extremely surprised how interesting it was. Well worth a visit for anyone who is interested in fishing or taking up fishing as the shop is well stocked to cater for all anglers! Even got a free casting lesson on their pond outside by the same knowledgeable staff. If your visiting Alnwick you need to make time for a visit to this quaint Museum and its FREE!!!
