Description: Tap and Kitchen is a waterside restaurant and bar at Oundle Wharf, Northamptonshire. Unpretentious, honest dishes comprise simply cooked ingredients sourced locally, where possible. We make pretty much everything ourselves from preserves to puddings through to chutneys and sauces and even homemade bacon, sausages and beans at breakfast; Daily service covers morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, bar food and dinner, as well as breakfast at the weekend. A friendly bar serves an extensive range of drinks including beers from our Nene Valley Brewery.

The food here is good! The staff are welcoming, attentive and not pushy. The menu is distinctive and is inventive as well as interesting. Some of the dishes seem a little fussy but the kitchen is happy to amend / adapt / respond to particular likes/dislikes. The wine list is equally interesting but I do wish they had a beer list too! As there is a brewery on site it is a shame they do not highlight the excellent ales available. They are written on a distant wall but rather too far to see!!

So far each visit to the Tap & Kitchen has been for large family events and still the service has been excellent each time.
A friendly atmosphere - the staff are amazing - beautifully located by the river. Plenty of outdoor seating means you can sit outside in warmer weather & drink in the scenery, indoors there is a mix of welcoming booth seating and tables of varied configuration.
The food is excellent and there is a well stocked bar with great wines & ales.
Thoroughly recommended for whatever the occasion, does tend to get busy so booking ahead for peak times is recommended.

First time visit, loved the location and decor. Staff were welcoming and attentive.
We ordered the sole which was huge and perfectly cooked,a side salad which was far better than the usual lettuce/cucumber/tomato combination, and broad beans with radish which was delicious.
Too full to attempt a desert.
We were also very kindly given a free non alcoholic cocktail to end our evening. Thanks again!
We will definitely be back.

We were looking for a menu that offered a wide selection to suit varied taste buds and dietary requirements. A warm welcome at the door from Sean helped us to relax and enjoy our visit straight away. It took us a while to decide what to eat, as there were many tantalizing dishes leading to much indecisiveness. Sean was most patient and also helped with explaining the various wines, ales and ciders available. Had a great time catching up with friends, over a delightful meal, in a comfortable environment.

We stop in quite often to sample the many different beers they offer. Majority of which are brewed locally (some as close as across the carpark!) never been disappointed. The food menu changes daily and again we have never been disappointed by what we’ve seen on the menu or received to our table!
The location is great, peaceful considering how close it is to the main road, yet the river gives the site a form of tranquility with lots of British wildlife visiting.
Recommend if you want to try kiaking (there’s a water sports centre next door) or just a quiet peaceful pint with dinner. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and very clued up on allergies! Highly recommend!
