We were in the area for a daytrip from London and stopped for lunch - were very lucky to bag the last table in the bar area as the place was absolutely packed!
Good food (huge portions), friendly staff and great atmosphere

We had a fantastic meal last night the pan fried chicken was cooked extremely well with a good choice of sauces to go with it. I chose the brandy and mushroom sauce it was to die for. The Meal was accompanied with a large portion of vegetables. The two men we were with chose the steaks which again were cooked to perfection with triple cooked chips and home made onion rings. All the staff were incredibly attentive we couldn't of asked for anymore. Great pub we will definitely be returning.

As soon as we walked through the door we were greeted by the warmth and smell of an open fire. The warm welcome from the young lady at the bar was just as good.
We had not been to the Red Lion for many years and the changes were significant, it is now a much nicer place to visit.
We were there for lunch, and both chose the chefs pie of the day, which was full of chicken and mushrooms and was very tasty, served with potatoes of your choice and a good selection of veg.
For a weekday lunchtime it was pretty busy, so word must be spreading, it's well worth a visit and we will definitely return.

Hiya

Thank you for taking the time to review the Red Lion - we are chuffed that you enjoyed your visit particularly as you had not been in a while. We have worked really hard to turn the place around and build a strong reputation in the area. It seems like it has worked!

Please come again!

Excellent Sunday roast and the best roast potatoes ever. Sadly the soup was not to the same standard as tasteless and watery and the pudding I would guess bought in. The staff were attentive and most friendly and the service extremely good.

Hi Jonathan

Thanks for the review. Very pleased to hear that the roast was so good - our chef turns out a good Sunday Dinner. However, it seems you were not taken by our soup. Why not come over and try us again - maybe give the Prawn Cocktail a go. A pub classic with a modern twist.

See you soon

Our third visit in 2 months for a Birthday lunch on Saturday 14 January. As usual friendly welcome to child and dog which is always a bonus, relaxed atmosphere, varied menus, excellent cuisine and ales. Starters prawn cocktail, pate and deep fried Brie all delicious. Mains poached Salmon, Sausage and mash and Gammon, Cheesy pasta for child. Too full for dessert! Waiting for the warm weather to enjoy sitting in the traditional garden. Fantastic wooden children's climbing frame and good car park. Highly recommended.
