We had a fabulous evening at Gastronomy. A bright, lively and modern restaurant with a lovely chilled atmosphere. I went for dinner with a friend over bank holiday weekend and we ordered a selection of 6 small plates which we shared. Good portions, well presented and very tasty. It was a beautiful meal accompanied by brilliant cocktails. A Great place with very happy, enthusiastic and caring staff. I would definitely recommend a visit and will be returning very soon.

If you want good food, a great atmosphere and attentive staff then this is the place! We visited for brunch on Easter Sunday and were pleased with every aspect of our visit. I had the vegetarian breakfast which was delicious and others in the party had the full English and the pulled pork Benedict - all equally tasty! All washed down with great coffee and even better mimosas. Can’t wait to go back to try more of the dishes on the menu - and more cocktails! Hope this place is successful and stays around, they certainly deserve to.

We were with agroup of friends for Easter Sunday, most of whom live in Cowes, and had booked a late lunch at Gastronomy. The impression we got was that we were a nuisance for being there. Service had to be asked for and was so slow that it took about 1 1/2 hours to get food even though we were the only ones in the restaurant. No one bothered to ask if things were ok, if anyone wanted deserts and/or coffee and the bill was tossed on the table as if that too was a chore. Starters were nice but mains nothing special.Pity because it could be a nice place to go for a meal but we'll probably wait for it to change hands once more before trying again.

What a totally disappointing experience I had with a group of friends here on Easter Sunday. Despite the place being virtually empty the staff could not have been less interested in serving us if they had tried. Nobody was doing "front of house" and the place lacked atmosphere. One of us had to leave the table to look for a member of staff to take our drinks order, again to ask for menus, again to ask for someone to take our order. The food when it eventually arrived was OK, definitely not memorable... the salad was a few sad undressed leaves shaken from a supermarket bag. When we had finished our meal and all had empty glasses it took ages for anyone to clear the table and the staff had no interest in asking if we wanted any more drinks, dessert or coffee... frankly they just couldn't wait to get shot of us. One member of staff was more interested in playing with his child than attending to the guests. I did have a table booked with another group of friends for next week and I made a point of cancelling it before we left.

A group of 10 locals ventured into Gastronomy for the first time. After 20 minutes we finally got a drink. After 40 minutes we asked for the menu as despite them knowing we were eating they didn't offer us one. Another 20 or so minutes passed when we asked if we could possibly place an order. We planned on some nibbles - as we were getting very hungry by this time. They took another 20 mins to arrive. By the way the place was almost empty at mid afternoon Easter Sunday so they were not busy. After another half an hour we finally received our main course which was good all round. Hence 2 stars and not only one. When we finished it took ages for them to clear the table. No dessert menu was forthcoming and no one asked if we wanted coffee. We asked for the bill ourselves. Think the staff need training. Oh and btw there was no toilet paper in the ladies as a final issue. Not great.
