We visited The Swan three times during our overnight stay in Southwold so I guess that tells you how much we loved the place. Have morning coffee in the lounge and had a delicious warm fruit scone and a tasty gluten free chocolate cookie. In the evening we had a meal in the restaurant when we both had the steak burger which has to be one of the best burgers we have ever had.

The staff were friendly and the service efficient. The refurbished property is amazing and is very much a destination venue and is obviously the place to be seen.

We look forward to returning.

Re-visited The Swan after a very poor first meal post the re-furb (and being offered and refused a free meal!) Much much better, very good, friendly staff, and learnt what skrei cod was - the best I have ever tasted. They have sensibly reduced the menu to focus on better more interesting meals; my chicken liver pate and wife's smoked mackerel for starters were amazing. We will return now.
Niggles? If I were to be a total pedant - the table kept wobbling and our drinks were slopping around; the waiter said there was a screw underneath to adjust but this should be checked before service. Also I could have done without the soil on one of my carrots (not good between the teeth!).

We chose for this years long-week-end pilgrimage to stay at the Swan Hotel, we are ardent follows of all things Adnams (being we're originally from Suffolk.) What have we been missing, lots it seems, we will be back there next time without a shadow of doubt. Yes, there were some [small] teething problems since they excellent referb., but these paled into insignificance when taken as a whole. So friendly, they say personal service is what they aim to, for them it's not something they simply say, it definitely passed the 'use-test.' A delight from start to finish, so friendly!

Room Tip: Thought we'd be in the main hotel but were in the Garden Rooms, if we'd known we'd have asked for this. We will make sure we do next time.

We spent last weekend here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Although the hotel is very comfortable & the refurbishment is very tasteful, we were extremely disappointed with the food. We had lunch in the Tap Room (bar) when we arrived, the burger was less than average quality. We booked dinner for Saturday night in the Still Room (restaurant) expecting to experience fine dining, only to discover that the menu was the same menu as the lunch menu in the Tap Room!! There was no a la carte or tasting (chef) menu as advertised on the website! On inquiring we were told by the waiting staff that they change menus seasonally and they were between menus ( on a Saturday night!!!). This is extremely poor for a hotel of this calibre and very disappointing for us. Needless to say we did not eat in the hotel the next night and we will think twice about returning to the Swan.

Our menu has recently been updated in both the Tap Room and the Still Room and we will make sure that the website gets updated immediately.

We do hope that you would reconsider and try our menu at The Swan again in the future - we would certainly welcome the opportunity to deliver an experience that exceeds your expectations.

We've been to Southwold many times but this was our first stay at the Swan. We had room 2, a lovely big room overlooking the square. Superb bathroom with massive shower and a bath too. We found the bed to be extremely comfortable so no idea what the other commentators have found. Breakfast in the stylish Still Room was excellent freshly cooked Full English. Service was attentive and friendly at all times, really felt welcome. Handy parking at the back.

Had a problem with the Apple TV in our room, the chap that came to look at it couldn't help and there were no instructions. Apart from that, no complaints.

Very happy to recommend.

Room Tip: Room 2 was excellent!
