though the maintenance of this place was not upto mark but the very fact that it has thousands of Shiv Lings was enough for me to enjoy the beauty and divine history of this place. must visit

I've noticed a lot of red-breasted parakeets in Surya Pahar. It was great watching them flying around freely. Other than that, just ruins.

The Surya Pahar hills have numerous stone sculptures, which now lay abandoned and are completely in ruins. Though steps have been taken to protect the site, it's not worth visiting this remotely located archaeological site far from the city.

Sri Surya Pahar is one of the best places to visit in the country. It has combination of three religions at one site as per the findings, Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. There is an annual mela, which is a big crowd puller. Once you reach there you can go on your own exploring spree, as the place is so full of sites. I would recommend one to climb the several hundred steps upto the peak of a hillside, where one will find the cut-out of the rocks of Jain Tirthankaras. But the real achievement after climbing so many steps is the great view of the plains below with the amazing river taking a serpentine turn.
