First, the positives. The rooms are typical Hampton rooms. Okay beds, clean bedding, clean bathroom. Nothing special, but not bad.
Now to the reasons why I and my co-workers hate staying here. There is a rancid sewage-like smell here. We stayed two separate weeks in January and it was disgusting the whole time. The worst part? We stayed in January last year and the smell has NOT changed. So gross!
One morning it was snowing and the staff decided they didn't need to smoke away from the building, so they went out and smoked right next to the front door. That's always nice -- blowing cigarette smoke in your face first thing in the morning.
Something else I noticed from my prior trips to this hotel -- the waffle batter is always sour. I spend 60+ nights a year in Hamptons and this is the only one to have consistently disgusting waffle batter. Also, I'm sure the breakfast area people are nice, but they don't keep the milk consistently filled. I noticed that this time and on my prior trips. They do like to sit and chat with each other ... maybe that's why things aren't done?
Either way, the smell is horrible. I don't know if I'll be able to take it again. Might have to drive all the way from Athens next time. Such a shame.More
