A lovely overnight stay. All staff obliging and friendly. We arrived on a very chilly day (for us) and the air-conditioning in our room had been turned on. An extremely nice welcome! We had booked restaurant which was recommended when we phoned to book room but it was no trouble to change time of booking when we wanted to watch the announcement of Olympics 2032 coming to Brisbane. Yay!! If I hadn’t read prior reviews I would have no idea of staff shortages.

Many thanks Kathy for taking the time to post a review. As we share all reviews with our staff, who after all are an integral part of this business, thank you for you wonderful comments . Due to our chronic staff shortages, with all staff working 6 days, we do appreciate your understanding of our efforts to minimize any inconvenience to our guests . Thanks for staying with us and we agree Yay!!! to Brisbane in 2032. Cheers, Richard

For the second year Covid travel restrctions affected motels and restaurants. It was often not difficult to book accommodation but difficult to enjoy a sit-down meal. Yet the pub up the road had no such retrictions. Understandable with Roms completely unaffected by Covid.

Thanks Peter for your review. COVID has caused major interruptions to the Hospitality Industry right through out Queensland. We currently have 12 positions vacant and approached 5 Employment Agencies in Brisbane for assistance and not one reply. In very difficult circumstances we still have our award winning Restaurant open with reduced numbers that the staff can handle . We all look forward to the day we can open the restaurant to our COVID capacity of 84 Pax. Your comment "Roma completely unaffected by COVID" underlines the flippant approach by those who have not been inconvenienced by COVID. Cheers Richard

Well suited for longer stays with basic kitchen and cooktop, dishwasher, full size fridge but surprisingly no washing machine. My room had a queen and single bed, seating for 2 at the kitchen table and lounge area. Undercover parking outside your unit. Has a restaurant on site but was already fully booked when I checked in a 1430 hours so either book ahead, go elsewhere, get delivery or go to shops and buy something to cook. It is a few km out of town so not a walk to town place. Biggest issue is the lack of cellular coverage here. While wifi is free, it is terribly slow. I have both Optus and Telstra phones and had no network coverage here despite only a few kms from the centre of Roma. Good for those not wanting a call, but clearly not ideal for most.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. Our Award winning Restaurant is booked out every night of the week. Guests who book direct with the Motel are asked if they require a restaurant booking. Due to our popularity the Restaurant is booked out days in advance. Guest who book with online travel agents won't try to book until they arrive i.e. 14.30. to late. The NO NETWORK COVERAGE is NOT OUR PROBLEM. Optus has no service in Roma and much of the Outback Of Queensland. Telstra has its moments about 80% of the time OK. Thanks for staying with us and your comments. Cheers Richard

The Reception staff were delightful and explained that the restaurant was shut due to staff shortages. But after a 6 hour drive having to get in the car again to search for a meal was not what we had wanted hence our choosing Explorers Inn. The state premier in QLD is constantly asking people to visit rural areas but the facilities are just not up to it.Very sad.

Thank you Peter for your review. We currently have 10 positions available and despite continuous advertising no reply's. Whilst we have had to close our Restaurant on SUNDAY NIGHTS only. WE DO OFFER ROOM SERVICE FROM OUR FULL RESTAURANT MENU ON SUNDAY NIGHTS. Your comment about the state premier is pathetic. The whole of Queensland hospitality Industry are suffering from staff shortages and are trying to cope with the lack of staff. It is very sad Peter that in your perfect world some industries are doing it tough due to the Pandemic, the Premiers border closes ,etc, etc.
Cheers,
Richard

Large room with all the facilities you need for a restful night. Great location as you enter town from the East. Plenty of parking, restaurant with room service. Staff were courteous, professional but not very friendly.

Thanks Brad for taking the time to post a review. We do appreciate your wonderful comments and note the not very friendly staff. Our staff are stretched to the limit due to acute staff shortages. The Pandemic has caused many problems for the Hospitality Industry and no Backpackers has made it worse. Thanks for staying with us.

Richard
