We had a very pleasant stay at Crake Valley in September this year. The lodge was well equipped and the location is great too.
There were a couple of niggles but nothing sufficient enough stop me staying again.
We arrived after a 6.5 hour journey and were met by the owner and shown to our lodge. After she left we discovered the beds hadn't been made and arriving late after such a long journey, well, making beds was the last thing we needed. I'm sure it was an oversight but was most unwelcome.
The lodge was modern and clean but a couple of things let it down such as a rusty toilet brush and the fridge freezer having puddles of water inside, presumably it had been turned off for some time prior to arrival and had defrosted.
The lodge could also benefit some art work on the walls, but otherwise it felt very homely.
Location is great and just a short stroll to the bottom of Coniston Water, which is very peaceful.
Would I stay again? Absolutely. It's cheap holidaying in a very beautiful part of the world and despite the niggles, we were very happy.
I would give this 3.5 stars based on the few issues, though it's not an option so am giving 4 instead.
