Great little spot for a relaxing get away! Rooms were not fancy, but super clean and had what you would need. Rooms even come with wifi, Netflix, noise machine for sleep and mini fridge. There was a convenience store, liquor store and Jill’s chocolate also within the building! The pub there was also super cute. Food, drinks, service and price were fabulous!

We will for sure be back in the summer/fall or both to enjoy the nice weather and beautiful view!!

My wife and I stayed here in September for a wedding and can’t say enough about this hotel. The rooms were rooms, but the location, the view and the amenities made this one of the best hotels we have stayed in on Cape Breton Island. The wedding took place at the church on a hill in the Highlands, just a short walk from the hotel, which has its own history having been brought there from somewhere else. The hotel had a dining area for the dinner and a bar for the reception. This is a great place – there is a general and a liquor store on site, two restaurants, more than enough hotel rooms, some with balconies, all of which overlooks the Bras d'Or Lakes. The staff is friendly and helpful and the “Trivia Night” brings in community and company. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and definitely recommend it for anyone wanting a good launching place for touring the island.

Room Tip: Try and get a balcony overlooking the lakes

Of course, the views were fantastic and the weather was cool and sunny, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. But the best was the Pub on one end, a liquor store at the other and delicious coffee and chocolates in the middle. At the end of the days we were so glad be return to Iona Heights Inn. Plus the live music will take you back to Ireland and Scotland.

Room Tip: All rooms face the lake, have balconies for relaxing and you park close to your room.

We had been staying with friends & family on PEI for 4 days & drove over to Cape Breton to stay for one night in Iona. The rooms are accessed by the upper back parking lot. The 2 steps into the room are quite high & not level, as the large wheeled suitcase went rolling off onto the pavement.
The room was a double & a good size, the tv runs a form of android box...very surprising.
We were in the maritimes for 9 days, the best sleep we had was in Iona....the beds were firm/hard.
The hotel had a nice cafe which served breakfast & espresso.

Wanted to be near Leitches Creek so the location was perfect. Had no great expectations of the remote motel. Surprise - it was lovely! The rooms are renovated/updated - very attractive and comfortable, though the bathroom (at least in our room) could do with a bit more elbow room. The pub had very good food. The onsite chocolate factory doubles as a breakfast spot - grab a fancy coffee and pastry - eat in the pub or just take it along with you. Another pleasant surprise was the little general store that doubled as a liquor store. S0 we had a nice bottle of wine to enjoy the AMAZING view of the bras d'or lakes.

Room Tip: Go for the top (i.e. 2nd) floor - the view is outstanding.
