Great opportunity to visit an environmental review of the Beaufort County area Waterway system. Well-designed, well-developed and of great interest. If the timing is right you can also take a free pontoon boat ride around the area through the estuarium.

Lots of good information, as you walk through the estuarium and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. However, some of the displays could use some attention and repair and the tanks that were not touch tanks should be covered. Also, the movie at the beginning of tour could be updated and the projector replaced. There are some nice views, but the worn out projector washes them out so you can't see the beauty and the narrative. Old include more information then it does, seems sort of weak and little more data and facts could improve the experience.

Wonderful place and wonderful and knowledgeable staff. We did the scavenger hunt which they loved! It was our first visit to the coast and we learned a lot. The exhibits were interactive and kept the kids attention (big kids too lol)

The North Carolina Estuarium offers a donation based River Roving at various times in the year. We went on a Saturday morning for the 10:30 trip. It was both a relaxing and informative trip. The excursion lasted about an hour and you will go on the Pamlico River; the Tar River and Bear Creek. Reservations do need to be made ahead of time but this is a fun thing to do while in Washington.

Nice stop while walking the waterfront in Washington. We enjoyed learning about our NC estuary system. Admission is only $5.
