Description: Lavender Bistro is under new ownership/management as of January 2016. Chef Ross has used his creativity and taken the suggestions of many long term guests and designed a brand new menu. As of March, 2018 the menu has again been updated in order to offer our customers greater variety and match our offerings with the changing season. We offer New American/French Cuisine with Chef's unique flair. The menu will change every few months and we always have nightly specials. Our hours are: Lunch Monday through Saturday 11:30 to 3:00 and Dinner Monday through Saturday 5pm until. We also offer Sunday Brunch form 12:00 until 3pm.

We visited this restaurant for the first time during a festival, so they were very busy, so the service was a bit slow. The food redeemed the visit. Husband opted for the lunch special of the day, a "Black and Blue Salad" with nice slices of well seasoned beef and chunks of blue cheese over mixed greens and a good vinagrette. Wife had a BLT with home-made chips. Both selections were very good. Bill was a tad high for lunch, $26 with one tea. Decor leaves a lot to be desired.

I have to admit that I usually go to another Tryon restaurant. But this one also has very good food and the folks seem to care. We arrived just as they were closing lunch to prep for dinner. But they still let us in and took care of us. Quiche and desserts we had were fresh and tasty. Have to go here more often.

Arrived at 6:30; ordered salad and soup; still had not been served by 7:25. Left to get to a concert and ate quickly next door.

Not sure if there was a new chef here since my last visit but the food was excellent and nicely presented. Lacks a coordinated decor that reflects the same image as the food.

Small, quaint restaurant with limited menu, and with a chef who is trying to provide the unique touch to food. We've eaten here a couple of times and have never been disappointed. Our last visit was Feb 13 of this year. Ordered the Chilean Sea Bass and found it to be done quite nicely. As always, the pimiento topped fried green tomatoes are excellent. Enjoyed the fried oysters. Just not too happy with the sauce offerings. Restaurant includes ketchup with the oysters - bad choice. A remoulade would make more sense. When I asked for mayonnaise and Tabasco, I was told they do not have Tabasco - that drops them a notch in my book! But they did come up with a terrific sauce alternative for the oysters, made of mayo/horseraddish/capers. It was excellent - but they did not have enough of the ingredients to provide enough of the sauce. That sauce combo is something they need to develop as a staple. As we are somewhat locals (a few miles down the road in Landrum), we like the place and we will go back.
