We are regulars at Nongkhai. The food is great. Sometimes take away has been very slow, but, again, we put up with it as the meals are delicious.
We eat there quite often. So as it was my turn to organise a dinner with friends (group of 6), I recommended Nongkhai. Our booking was at 7pm last night (Saturday 25/11/17). After looking at the menu and making choices, we sat for a while and no one came. We eventually called a waitress over and gave our order. Four having banquets (surely an easy order) and two main meals for the other two diners. By 8pm, no food. By 8.10, we had to go and advise we had no food, at all, not even our entrees. We also had no water, but no waitress in sight.
At 8.30pm, still not an item of food anywhere near us, and still no water.
We had to walk to speak with a waitress who came to the table and said they were trying their best and if we were unhappy to write a review so the owner could see it. She was unable to give us a time frame for our entrees or mains and said if we wanted to leave, she would not charge us corkage (plus one beer was ordered after a very long wait for that too). We waited another 5 minutes and due to hunger and frustration, decided to leave.
Very disappointing experience Nongkhai and as the organiser who recommended this for a group booking, rather embarrassing. People were coming in all evening to order take away, and all leaving with food, but no priority given to diners, and worse than that, no explanation, update or apology. Just over one and a half hours with no meals is pathetic!
We will be very reluctant to return, unfortunately.
We walked across the road to The Main, who very kindly accommodated us for delicious food and amazing service.
So here is the review for Nongkhai, as the waitress suggested.
