Our group of six ate here for the first time tonight. We had high hopes, given the numerous options on the menu. We ordered a couple of appetizers and then we all got different entrees. I expected about 50% more of the crab dip, and the flavor was just okay. The serving of cheese sticks was quite abundant, given each of the 5-6 sticks was about an inch in diameter and about five inches long. They had no seasoning in the breading, which resulted in a bland taste if you didn't use the marinara sauce. There was only about 2-3 tablespoons of sauce, so you will need to order extra sauce if you want flavor. The entrees had a good amount of food, but most of us felt that everything was very bland. I questioned if it was just our choices, but we tasted two appetizers, six entrees, and twelve sides, and the word of the night was "bland." I'm not a fan of heavy seasoning, either, so for me to say something was bland, it was bland. This might be really good for somebody with a sensitive stomach, as nothing tasted "bad." The service was good. We found a parking space in front of the restaurant (parallel parking), but I'm not sure if there is parking at the restaurant, other than at the strip shopping center beyond the gas station (in front of Rite Aid).

During the GREAT SNOW* of 2018, The Point has been one of the only restaurants open in this neighborhood! EVERYONE was there. Our humans had wisely made a reservation. The Point was SO BUSY but the waiter was so cheerful and efficient! He said there were only TWO waiters yesterday and FOUR tonight. We salute the brave waiters who toiled through snow and ice to serve so many diners!

One of our humans had a curious dish named FROMAGE ISLE. This is a French name, but we do not recall, from our youth in Paris, a grilled cheese sandwich island in a sea of tomato bisque. However, we did not see all of the food that Paris has to offer. (Alas!)

The fromage isle was large enough for one of us to stand upon, but we did not want to wade through tomato soup. Before we could construct a bridge from butter knives, the human had devoured much of the island. She said it was delicious.

[*The snow is at least six inches deep in this part of Raleigh! That is an inch taller than we are, even including our ears! We are so happy to have humans who carry us to restaurants.]

We all met at the Point for dinner after half of us finished watching a movie at the Rialto Theater two doors down. What with the way movies are now (previews of previews with advertising before they get to the actual film!) we ended up being rather off re: the timing of the film letting out, so the half of us that weren't at the movie ended up waiting a half hour for the half that were. Our waiter there was excellent about the whole thing - he got us drinks and some fries to munch on, and checked back for refills as our wait went on. When the remainder of our party finally appeared, he came by with greetings, took drink orders, and then departed so that they could take their time over the menu. And time IS necessary for their menu - more options than I would reasonably have expected to see from a smallish city bar and grill, including pizzas and flatbreads and steaks and pork chops and burgers and reubens - you want it, they'll make it and not bat an eye! Once ordered, there was no unseemly wait for our meals - salads and soups came almost immediately, followed with near-perfect timing by our main courses. An no hurry or sense of concern re: us getting through with our meals at all - our waiter was happy to have us and to serve us, as long as we wanted, even if it was just water and sweet tea (which after a week of Christmastime over-indulging, it was to a great degree!). A really nice night out for dinner!

While visiting our son and his family at Christmas time, we decided on dinner and a movie the evening before Christmas Eve. The movie was great, but dinner at The Point was even more spectacular. This restaurant (and bar) seemed to be a gathering place for locals since many appeared to know each other. The atmosphere was bustling, but enjoyable. Without reservations we spent about 20 minutes at the bar chatting with total strangers. Once seated our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful. Each in our party of 7 ordered a different entree, and all indicated full approval of taste and service. Price was reasonable for the meal and service. My first visit here, but I definately will return. I recommend to all.
