This place wasn't on our to-do list, but we came across it on google and decided to go. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Great hike, and to get to the falls you have to navigate through some rocks and just nature in itself. There isn't a boardwalk to get there, which makes it even cooler. Loved this place and will definately do it again!

Good parking, easy to moderate hike with some uphill and rock hopping over water. Falls are beautiful and if warm enough you can take your shoes off and cool off a bit. A little crowded, but not bad (was there early April - spring break week). Lots of dogs on hike too - very cute. Kids loved it (12 & 9). Bathrooms are not so nice, but there if you really need it at the trail head.

We enjoyed the hike up to the falls which were beautiful! The trail is a packed trail and some places were a bit harder and uneven--including crossing a stream on large rocks. But overall it wasn't a difficult hike at all. My only suggestion would be to go as early in the day as possible to avoid the crowds. We went around noon on a weekday and were surprised by how many people were there. It wasn't awful, just surprising. Going at this time of the year (very early spring) allowed us to see more of the terrain and of the falls that would normally be obscured by foliage.

Five of us hiked the Catawba Falls on Wednesday. The hike is easy, but allow time to wander off to the side paths and climb some of the rocks. It can be muddy, especially during a wet spring. We arrived by 9:30, before most of the crowds. On our way back we encountered people every 30 feet. The falls are very pretty.

The 2.5 mile round trip hike to the falls took us about an hour and a half. The majority of the unsaved trail is easy including the wooden bridges over the river. Toward the end, the trail narrows and becomes a bit rocky and moderately strenuous. A family pushing a stroller had to abandon it and proceed on foot. Great view of the falls upon reaching the end. Nice parking area with primitive restrooms at the trailhead. Great hike overall.
