If parking were not so difficult, I'd go here more often. Excellent food. I especially like the cucumber salad, their frittatas and desserts. Sandwiches quite good as well. I've also been for dinners and they are consistently good.

Thank Martha H

First time visit after hearing many positive reviews. True to form, the lunch was delicious. We had the turkey, pear and Gorgonzola sandwich, vegetarian sandwich special and grilled cheese with ham for the kids. The fruit tart was awesome. You can also get multiple beer glass sizes. Only issue was the sun in the courtyard, choose you table wisely. We can't wait to return in a date night!

Went to Guglhupf for brunch on the last day of our trip to Durham NC and was totally underwhelmed. Joined the queue and placed our order, unfortunately paying by cc and including a tip beforehand... big mistake. Having sat around waiting went to check on our order. Apparently there'd been a computer glitch, right! Were given a lump of glutinous cheesecake to make up for it!?! Food eventually arrived some 10 minutes later, we'd been sitting there nearly an hour by then. Apparently the Shitake omelette and steak sandwich were good but the buttermilk pancake with a handful of slightly manky blueberries, although basically meeting the menu description, was pretty disappointing. Service was dire, couldn't wait to get away.

I LOVE spending a morning or afternoon working at Guglhupf! It has great atmosphere for working or catching up with a friend. And EVERYTHING is good - pastries, sandwiches, lattes. I've never been for dinner but lunch and breakfast is delicious!

We have gone to Guglhupf for nearly 5 years, ever since we arrived in Durham, NC. Recommended by our son who had gone to college in the area, we have been very, very pleased. The food is great, as "German" as you are going to get in the US, high quality, great service. They conduct periodic special dinners, with wine courses accompanying each of 5 or 6 courses. Not super cheap but worth the money and always superb. Highly recommended -- want to impress someone, a client, a date -- take them to Guglhuph, you won'd be disappointed.
