Fun had by all. Thrilling jump for the little ones and thrilling chills for the older ones. Long but easy hike in. Beautiful area.

The only one not wearing clothing at our recent hike/splash afternoon was the dog! Families of all shapes and sizes enjoyed the hike from Blue Ridge Parkway lookout to this hidden gem. You can hear the water before you can see it, and that was a tantalizing sound on a hot day. Steps from trail to falls are very steep, and the bridge is missing half of the safety railings you'd expect. We took our puppy a bit downstream so she could splash in the water.

A bit of a walk down to the falls across the Blue-ridge Pkwy from the parking at the Looking Glads vantage point. Our kids are ages 3, 8 and 12. Gotta keep your hands and eyes on the toddlers. The older kids loved exploring the multiple swimming pools and waterfalls. The eldest did the big jump off the rock into a nice deep pool. (P.S. No bathrooms, but there is a spot a mile or two up the pkway at a pull-over vantage point.)

Yeah....exactly like in the books with cowboys and indians we read as children this waterfall has everything: scenery, mistery, thrill, adventure !!!!
What an amazing place, what fun we had !!!!
If you love those hard to find-rock jumping into crystal clear water-picturesque waterfalls THIS IS IT !!!
Words don't describe not even remotely the true beauty of this waterfall. You have to see it ( and experience it) to believe it ! Bring a set of changing clothes, the water is cold even in July !!!
Be careful, it could be easily missed. Drive slowly on Blue Ridge Parkway. At Milepost 417 at Looking Glass Rock overlook ,just across the street from the overlook parking .Then the trail it's easy to find and the waterfall is at the end of a 1/2 mile hiking trail from the Parkway overlook.
