Decided to try Maria's Mexican Restaurant as it has eluded us for some time. We have heard many good things about the Margarita's, freshness of the food, hospitality and an enjoyable time. The Margarita's are very good, the food appears homemade and very fresh, and the staff very friendly. We tried two different dishes, one a Taco plate and the other a chicken fajitas plate. The Chicken fajitas accompanied with rice (really flavorful & superb), flour fajitas (choice of flour or corn), guacamole, and enchiladas in sauce. The Taco plate came with choice of Chicken or Beef (ordered Chicken), rice (again very good), and refried beans (very good). The atmosphere is quaint and somewhat creative, located in the lower level of a former small school(?). The prices were higher than one would expect for a Mexican restaurant, and that would be the only caution. Definitely a return trip is in order, as we saw some very appetizing plates that other patrons had ordered.

First time for dinner there last week. Dinner was such a great surprise! Food was awesome and truly authentic, delicious Margarita. The location is really retro, old, and cozy. The service was a little slow, the waitress said they weren't anticipating that rush for a Wed night.

Maria's has amazing Margarita's as a start to your visit. Careful of how many you have as they are strong :) Any food you order is true Mexican, not Tex-Mex. All fresh and very good. Service is always friendly and timely.

We "discovered" Maria's about 8 years ago while staying for a couple of days at the Holiday Inn in Webster, and have since returned about six times, last week being our 7th time. It had amazing online reviews at the time so we decided to give it a shot. We were so delightfully surprised. At first glance, the restaurant appears quite strange ( ie it's in the back basement of what appears to be an old church), and seems quite worn around the edges. Don't let that fool you! It has absolutely delicious, fresh, outstanding food. We have never been disappointed with any of the meal choices. You can taste the difference of quality ingredients in even the simplest dishes such as guacamole, home made salsa, home made nachos and refried beans. When you get to the more sophisticated dishes and specialties on the menu, it's just as remarkable. The favourite items for us are their Margueritas! Real fresh tasty lime juice and the most delicious Tequilas to choose from. Unfortunately, one of us has to drive so we can't indulge as much as we would like. The prices are very affordable for the quality and quantity of what you get in meals. In fact, our drink bill is always more expensive than the food! You know it's a real gem when you see a line up to get into this place, as we've often seen. The wait is worth it. We often drive down to the states for little weekend getaways, usually staying in the Buffalo area ( we also love La Tolteca there), but may just have to spend that extra hour on the road to visit Maria's more often. Our one disappointment was several years ago when we came on a Monday night, only to find that they were closed on Mondays! Oh well, I suppose the amazing chefs need to rest up. Can't wait to go back.

There are some items at Maria's that are excellent and consistent. If you are there to socialize then get the house margarita, rocks/salt. It is the best margarita I've ever had. Tried to replicate at home but just can't match it. Pairs great with the appetizer called Hole Mole. This is a plate of chips with cheese melted under the broiler and a generous helping of guacamole. It is just heaven on a plate (and better than the same item at Selena's). You can even order a half portion. Onto the meal - the best item at Maria's is their shredded beef. I usually go with a beef enchilada, their traditional red enchilada sauce is very good - or pay a small upcharge for Mole sauce. Guacamole tacos and guacamole tostadas also very good.
