Housed near the harbor in a lovely old stone building that was once a garden club, the Long Island Museum and an antique store, the Jazz Loft is a bit of Greenwich Village and Lincoln Center on Long Island. World famous musicians perform upstairs in a cabaret setting. Downstairs is a growing museum of fascinating artifacts, manuscripts and photos. It is very affordable ($20 for regular admission and $15 for seniors). A cultural gem!

The building has been renovated beautifully to accommodate a wonderful jazz museum and an excellent music venue. The AC worked well on a very hot day (not a small thing)! Exhibits are unique. Seats are comfortable. Ticket prices are better than reasonable.

We had a wonderful time here looking at instruments, sheet music, phonographs, records, photos, clothing and almost anything else you could think of related to jazz musicians. There is a lounge where there are regular performances. Very cozy and inviting. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Certainly worth a visit. By the way, there is an elevator for anyone who needs it.

make sure you go some time to listen to music in the loft, but allow plenty of time to see the exhibits of jazz memorabilia in the floors below.
