A fabulous safari experience

Review of Ezulwini Lodges
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks agovia mobile
We had a great time at Ezulwini’s two beautiful locations. Their ultra luxury suites are spacious and beautifully appointed. The food was also fantastic. Always very flavorful. The best part, though, is the game drives. We saw all of the big five more than once.

Ang and Craig, the managers, are very friendly and a great source of information about South Africa. I highly recommend.

Can we leave 10 stars? Ezulwini was the trip of a life time. We had the best experience from start to finish. Beginning with Francis, she was the trip coordinator. She guided us every step of the way in terms of travel connections and getting us to and from the airport. Seamless. The staff at both Billy's Lodge and River Lodge were top notch. They were warm, inviting, engaging and took care of our every need. We were greeted by staff every time we came in. After the evening game drives, we were always received with a specialty cocktail that was interesting and delicious. The rooms were fabulous. We stayed in the Ultra Luxury Suites and I have to say, they were worth it. At River Lodge, I sat outside after lunch and watched the hippos cruise around the river. At Billy's we could see and hear the elephants cruise by. The accommodations were luxurious and we enjoyed the housekeeping and turn down service nightly. The food was very good. There were always 2 options and I most enjoyed the dishes that were local cuisine. Every morning we were served fresh bread. We ate a lot!

The safari was a fantastic experience. It was number one on my bucket list and it lived up to every dream I ever had. Our guides were fantastic; they were so knowledgable and had so many interesting facts about the animals. We did see the Big 5 and a lot of everything except the elusive Leopard who gave us a glimpse one evening. One might say we could have gotten "bored" of elephants but every time we saw them, they were so majestic that we just sat in awe. We even got up close to some spicy elephants and rhinos. Hector and Christian were fantastic and very different. When we left Hector at River Lodge, I wondered how the new guide could live up to him. But then we met Christian and he was just as amazing and was able to give us lessons in geology and astronomy to boot! At the end of our 6 day safari, Christian could tell we were getting a little antsy because there isn't a lot of opportunity to exercise so he asked us if we wanted to go for a walk through the bush. So off we went single file with our 2 guides and walked for about a mile. We were tracking a rhino and it was fascinating to see all the little things they look for besides large footprints. Never found the rhino but it was really cool.

We went in April so it was their Fall. Francis told us that all times of the year are good but fall is nice because it's not so hot, there were virtually no bugs, and the visibility is better as the leaves are falling off the trees. Our photos turned out beautifully because of the warm Fall light. Even though Spring is when the babies come, we saw plenty of lion cubs, baby zebra, and baby elephants.

I've told everyone that this was the trip of a life time but I have to be honest, I've been bitten by the Africa bug and can't wait to go back!

Dear 366amyg, thank you so very much for taking the time to let us know about your amazing Ezulwini Lodges safari experience, we are quite literally blown away by your very kind comments.
Your lovely review has been shared with all of the team and they are delighted to have been able to make your stay so special.
It is a shame that you only caught a glimpse of the leopard, since then there have been regular sightings, especially at Billy's Lodge! Your photos look wonderful though and please feel free to share to our other social media pages.
Many of our guests feel like this, usually making this a bucket list or once in a lifetime trip, but then can't wait to come back, and we hope that you will.
Please do keep in touch, you will be welcomed back to the Ezulwini Family whenever you are ready to visit again.

We had an amazing experience; it was truly incredible and exceeded our expectations in every way. The entire staff was super attentive, and we felt like they were genuinely dedicated to our happiness, personal safety and overall satisfaction. The food was plentiful, served daily on time and was restaurant quality. The menus were diverse, and the portions were significant. We found the rooms extremely clean with midday service and an evening turndown. The trackers and guides on the safaris were nothing short of brilliant. We learned so, so much on the animals, their habits, their tracks, tendencies, you name it. We were also fully educated on the land, the environment, the climate and always felt safe when we stopped to observe the animals. I can't really put into words how you feel when you pull up to a lion's pride and stare with amazement and emotion, its overwhelming. You can't really fully anticipate that moment, you can only experience and try to share it. Unforgettable sunrises and sunsets, wine and snacks on pride rock, it doesn't get any better than this. If you're looking for a similar experience, look no further than Ezulwini Game Lodges, they are the real deal. My pleasure to offer our fullest and highest recommendation, they earned it in every way.

This was the trip of a lifetime!!! I came with my mother to Ezulwini who had been once before me and it was the most incredible experience I've ever had. Ezulwini has the friendliest staff of any hotel/lodge I have ever been to - they are always smiling and cater to your every need. The FOOD is incredible as well! The trackers are unbelievably impressive as well, not only did we see the Big 5, we learned SO much about all the animals and the history of South Africa. The property is beautiful, we stayed in the room closest to the river and watched the animals go by from our private pool! They even clean the rooms twice a day while you are out on safari - not a SINGLE bug in our room which I'm sure is not easy to maintain. I cannot wait to come back!!!

Room tip: Really recommend the Mondzo suite - it is their nicest/most expensive one but so worth it. Incredible views of the river and all the animals
