Amazing time

Review of Ezulwini Lodges
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 13, 2014via mobile
My boyfriend and I visited this lodge for 5 nights in August. We had the best time ever and would love to come back. Staff is very accommodating and the food and wine was great! Our guides were josh and Rex which were both great in their own ways. We saw the big five and much more wildlife than you could ever imagine. The rhinos were amazing and the trackers do a great job finding the animals- it's a 6 sense to them. I would definitely suggest this lodge when you are going to the greater Kruger national park.

Resort was very clean, great staff to give you the best experience. Enjoyed the small amount of guests which allowed for the personal touch. Food was out of this world. The guides did a great job and provided pictures of a lifetime.

The Ezulwini Lodges are remarkable in every way. Our adventure was very expertly put together by, Amy Bortoff, in Raleigh, NC, purchased through the National Inclusion Project in Raleigh, NC. Thank you Amy for your kindness and creating our adventure.

The Ezilwini Lodges are, Maritime Bushveld Estate, in Jo-Berg, River Lodge, on the banks of the Olifants River, Billy's Lodge, on the banks of a seasonal river in lion country, and Maritime on Moonlight Bay in Cape town.

The Maritime Bushveld Estate is managed by Brenda & Conrad. You want an 'Out of Africa' experience in Jo-Berg, this is the place. You will be so well taken care of. Do not miss the Elephant Sanctuary, you will get an up close and personal experience with an elephant, thank you Brenda for making this happen. A Braai, our BBQ, was prepared by Conrad, delicious. Shared with Brenda and Conrad and a roaring fire and lovely South African wine!

On to River Lodge, managed by Josh, who does an amazing job with all his staff. Once again, your every need is looked after. The game drives were stunning. Please try and do the early morning rides as well, greeting Africa in the early morning, the fresh smells, the sun coming up over the trees is magical, the gentle Giraffe greeting you with such grace!

On to Billy's Lodge, managed by Awbrey, who, also honors his staff in every way. As their guests, you feel very pampered and relaxed. Food is so yummy, and the cocktails and wine is outstanding.
The Game Drives are out of this world, saw the Big Five, up and close!

Time for the Cape. Sadly, Maritime in Moonlight Bay, had suffered sever rain damage. But that did not stop the managers, Mik and Angie from creating another breathtaking adventure for us. They arranged for our stay to be at the Southern Sun on the VA Waterfront. Which was spectacular!
They arranged for a Winelands Tour through, Vineyardadventures, not to be missed! Mik and Angie even managed to meet us at one of the Winery's for a splash or two of lovely wine. Such care and responsibility of their guests.

Team Work, that is what Ezulwini is all about. Tess and Lauren Saad believe in the magic of Africa and believe in their Lodges and their staff, treating all with respect for the jobs they do! And guess who benefits from their inspirations, we do, as their guests!

Room tip: All are outstanding, you will hear the Lions roaring, putting you to sleep.

This safari at Ezulwini was a unique and terrific experience! It was an exotic vacation, and the staff had everything to do with making it even more memorable. Josh, the manager at the River Lodge is wise way beyond his years and does it all! He aggressively hunted for animals (along with his quiet, but very capable tracker, Richie), and took it upon himself to make sure everyone had a great time. In addition to making sure we saw the key animals, he oversaw both the entertainment and safety for all. We had a blast! Friends of ours traveled several months later and had the same experience. The camaraderie was heartfelt and we have kept in touch! Major kudos to Glory and Abby, as their service was always delivered with a smile. Our guide at Billy's Lodge, Rex, was a pro and we all felt that that we were in very capable hands. He's very knowledgeable and was a great guide. Great food, and terrific accommodations for the Bush! Thanks to everyone at Ezulwini! I highly recommend!!

Room tip: The suites in both The River Lodge and Billly's Lodge are very special with private plunge pools, and a true African ambience. It is the ultimate luxury out in the Bush!

First, I confess, I'm not a die hard animal person, and yet, I would rank this in my top 3 trips taken. The staff was courteous and wonderful. Their knowledge of the African Bush and it's inhabitants made me feel quite safe despite being within mere yards of them.

The rooms are well and thoughtfully attended and the staff put together delicious meals that were well presented--particularly on the night when we specifically requested a traditional Douth African meal--what a treat!!

Since coming home, friends have been astounded by my pictures, exclaiming, "it's just like Nationsl a Geographic!" "It looks so real!" That reality is in large part because of the excellent skills exhibited by the trackers. I've been home 4 days and I still keeping looking at my photos. It was an unforgettable and highly memorable trip.

Thanks to everyone at Ezulwini for making this an absolutely wonderful vacation!

Safari experience was fantastic! We saw a lot of animals thanks to our guide Lawrence and tracker Richard who go above and beyond to make sure it was to our satisfaction. It is a tough job but you can see they give it to their fullest. Hospitality is to the fullest as well, Josh is awesome! Always checked on us to make sure we are having a great experience and stay. He came around and shared fun stories of his experiences. There was a guest who was very challenging for Josh and the staff. She was rude and demanding and wanted all the attention. She had a 6 year old sweet little boy with her. He was alright just needed proper parenting. Josh, the manager of the Lodge, and the staff were very patient and made sure we and the other guests are okay and not affected by this guest's behavior. Glory and Eddie were awesome ! They made sure all the guests were well fed on time! Brought you anything and everything you ask or need , with a smile. Glory sings as she walks back and forth to serve the guests, very happy, very pleasant. All the rest of the staff are just as awesome! The housekeepers and the ground personnel saying hello, greeting you on every time you cross each other's path. The whole resort is Fantastic and a Wonderful place to be!!!! Great Safari Experience!! I was sad to leave, I felt like I left a family I adopted in my heart . Highly recommend!!!!

Room tip: Get the upgrade to a suite , bigger space and view .
