We stayed last weekend for our anniversary. From Manila, it's a 3-4 hour drive from Manila, and we are trying to get a good resort not too far from the freeport. It was a challenge to get an affordable yet good accommodation despite the many resorts and in Subic. We saw Grand Seas and the reviews are good, I got excited because of the nice pictures and accessibility of the resort and I was not disappointed.
What I love most is the attentiveness of the staffs. We are also fond of Japanese foods, thus, we enjoyed dining at Sayuri. I loved the Chicken Teriyaki. We also had Jalapeno poppers, one of our favorites and Fried Tilapia, which was really good. We just love the coffee and frappes too. Would love to have dessert but only cheesecake is available that time.
The place is lovely and picture perfect. Very accessible, near convenience stores and food outlets (andoks, chooks to go), restaurants nearby and ah! Night club haha.. But across the resort is actually the Immaculate Concepcion Parish. The place is easy to spot too.
P.S. be careful in dealing with people outside offering island hopping. We made a deal with two people for Php1300 and it was not worth it. We went to suzuki island (which was a good swimming and snorkeling spot) but only for like 40 minutes. That wasn't worth it. They told us we will tour around other resorts but he was like itching to go back immediately.
I'd still recommend the water activities the resort is offering - jetski, banana boat and parasailing.
BTW, we got free breakfast but the food choices is limited. Nothing fancy - just soup, egg, pork adobo (varies), rice, coffee, juice. You can order other foods though from the menu if it's not your type. :)
