“Questionable Management”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 weeks ago via mobile

Background information.
In the Philippines, senior citizens over 60 are issued senior cards by the government. With this ID seniors can avail of discounts in restaurants, hotels, medicine, domestic air and land travel.
The Swiss Chalet in Angeles City has taken it in their own hands to decide who's cards they accept and which they reject. As the senior citizens discount cards are issued by the government of the Republic of the Philippines the management of Swiss Chalet is advised to complain/dispute with the respective issuing Municipality/City and not enter into a lengthy dispute with customers.
It is only in Angeles City, that certain establishments refuse to accept senoir Iďs. NOWHERE else in the Philippines had I ever a problem.
Any business establishment in the Philippines is obliged by the Bureau of Internal Revenue to issue official receipts. We was only issued an official receipt after a particular request. Needless to say that most if not all patrons leave, without an official receipt.
The above summary might not be an issue for most visitors, particularly international tourists, but it cast a shadow of what else might be wrong in that establishment.

“Swiss Chalet, Angeles most popular restuarant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2017

Quite simply put the Swiss Chalet is without a doubt the most popular restaurant in Angeles City Philippines.

Every night of the week this place is literally packed and it's been this way for at least the last ten years. What's more, the Swiss Chalet's popularity shows no sign of abating.

To be honest I cannot attribute The Swiss Chalet's popularity to any one contributing factor, but rather to a combination of factors.

Perhaps most important of the reasons behind Swiss Chalets popularity, is the fact that they serve delightful wholesome cuisine at very reasonable prices and they have been doing so for over ten years now.

This place is consistently good with large servings, thoroughly professional yet friendly service, best and most reasonably priced steaks in town, a comprehensive menu of dishes not found elsewhere in Angeles and an ideal location.

Over the years this restaurant has gained as being Angeles bast value for money and as a result it has developed a tremendously loyal patronage among long term patrons and new customers just discovering it/

Besides regular visits to Tequila Reef, just around the corner from Swiss Chalet, this restaurant is also one of my favourite eating destinations in AC. Added bonus is they have a european chef also.

“Authentic German/Swiss Cuisine in an Old World Europe Atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2017

When in Angeles, I stay at the Central Park Hotel. Just across the street on the back side is the Swiss Chalet. I've many times intended to go there for a meal, but it wasn't until my girlfriend Jenny asked to go there for breakfast (at 1 p.m.) that I actually went. What a missed opportunity!

I've lived in Germany twice for periods of about 3 and 4 years, and have grown to love German food. I can tell you without hesitation that the food offered at the Swiss Chalet is about as close to authentic as can be had anywhere. It's a smallish cozy place, with bare-beams, rustic furnishings and surroundings. They have imported Swiss and German beers, and even have imported apfelwein! All that's missing is the Oompa band!

Service is so-so, but friendly and welcoming. I think the shortcoming is that the wait staff is also the hotel check-in/out staff (the Swiss Chalet is also a small boutique hotel). In any event, after having enough Kampapangan, Korean and American food, it might be worth a try. I found it very satisfying; and it brought back pleasant memories.
