When in Angeles, I stay at the Central Park Hotel. Just across the street on the back side is the Swiss Chalet. I've many times intended to go there for a meal, but it wasn't until my girlfriend Jenny asked to go there for breakfast (at 1 p.m.) that I actually went. What a missed opportunity!
I've lived in Germany twice for periods of about 3 and 4 years, and have grown to love German food. I can tell you without hesitation that the food offered at the Swiss Chalet is about as close to authentic as can be had anywhere. It's a smallish cozy place, with bare-beams, rustic furnishings and surroundings. They have imported Swiss and German beers, and even have imported apfelwein! All that's missing is the Oompa band!
Service is so-so, but friendly and welcoming. I think the shortcoming is that the wait staff is also the hotel check-in/out staff (the Swiss Chalet is also a small boutique hotel). In any event, after having enough Kampapangan, Korean and American food, it might be worth a try. I found it very satisfying; and it brought back pleasant memories.
