We stayed at the Tarragon for three weeks in February this year. We've been there
several times before, each time we stay longer than the last and this time it was for three weeks. At the time of booking we were slightly anxious that we would be bored. We weren’t. In fact the extra time encouraged us to spend time on the property- more swimming, enjoying the lovely gardens, reading, we had scrabble but never got round to it - too competitive! Tarragon is serviced by a team of three ladies and two gardeners and a more helpful, hard working and nice group of people you could not wish to meet. Mark and Julia, who own the Tarragon provide excellent leadership and set the relaxed tone. One huge bonus is that the ladies will do laundry (for a small fee) which means that less luggage is needed.
There are five cottages ranging from 2x 1 bedsitting room, 2x two bedroom and one three bedroom. We always stay in the same one (lucky us) but we have toured all of them and I would be happy in any. They’re are all elegant, have modern kitchens, & barbecue and provide a setting for Mark and Julia’s excellent taste in wall art, prints and paintings. I really could take home several....
Shopping and food are at the very well stocked Spar five minutes drive away in Oakhurst. two restaurants are found five minutes drive away. Massimos is an excellent Pizza restaurant, lively, family orientated- nearly always fully booked, does take aways and the more upmarket Quentins, just behind is also very popular. Five minutes in a different direction is La Parada with good food, wine and beautiful views.
Shopping Malls are close by.
I don't know why I do this, one day I won’t be able to book, it will be so popular. All sorts of people stay at Tarragon from young families to us older people. Somehow it attracts very nice clientele. The cottages are spaced out, the gardens are large, it never feels crowded and the sparkling pool is large by S African standards. If you read this and book, I hope that you enjoy it as much as we do. Oh and most of the Western Cape sights are within an easy day trip n
