After walking the Art museum we headed to the seafood place at the top of the block (across from Whole Foods) and since that place was empty decided to look for something else.
Toast looks like a converted bar, heavy curtains and non descript, yet the foot traffic of people coming and going indicated that this is a popular spot, there was a 20 minute wait.
The waitress (Liz ?) was the smilest and nicest server we've met in a long while. The Food was good, the salad with tuna was OK, the Irish Eggs Benedict with the corn beef hash made my boy super happy.
The place had a great energy which is why we like it so much.

The place has a lot of buzz, and there was a wait. Ordered 2 sandwiches, which may not be the thing to order at a breakfasty place, but, it was lunchtime. The sandwiches were served on toast, which was cold. The bacon on the sandwiches, also cold. Had the distinct feeling both were recycled from the breakfast service. The sweet potato fries were...limp. The one order of onion soup was a small bowl - not terrible. Coffee was excellent. Did not have to time send food back because of the wait. Bill close to 50. bucks, including tip, so.... not so happy.

I was told about this place before and finally had a chance to have breakfast here. While the menu is nice and the service is good, unfortunately I wasn't too impressed by the food. It was OK, but nothing extraordinary. Standard American breakfast.
In fact my eggs benedict were a bit too done and the sauce had a bit too much mustard for my taste. Pancakes were good, but sitting at the upstairs windows turned out to be a bad spot. It was quite cold up there and we had the feeling to sit in a draft the whole time.

I love Toast. It’s comfy and friendly, the food is great, and the service is excellent! I always feel so welcome, even when it’s very busy. Whenever I have a visitor from out of town, I take them and they always want to go back. Every server I’ve had has been great, but special shout-outs to Megan & Heidi. You’ll be in good hands no matter who your server is.

This place has quickly become a favorite of mine. The atmosphere is homey, warm and friendly. The food is freshly prepared and consistently good. TIP: If you come during peak hours on weekends, be prepared to wait for a table. Also, patrons enjoy free parking at the Montclair Art Museum just one block away from the restaurant.
