Description: Park East is the ultimate expression of what a high-end casual restaurant should be. The owners represent a convergence of different styles and experiences ranging from fine dining to elite night life environments. The Park East concept can best be described as trans-generational: an expression of the evolution of cuisines, vibe dining, service and ambiance, not to mention the highest ranked sushi in the area. Park East creates the highest quality dining environment in what is one of the greatest indoor spaces in New Jersey. "Park East is not a restaurant, it"s an experience..."

We went to the Park for a large group dinner. They knew the approximate number of attendees for over a month and the near-exact number for over a week. Still, they were overwhelmed in the kitchen and were unable to completely serve the group of 40 for over 2 hours. They served bit by bit, dish by dish. This is a large establishment so the number in itself should not have been hard for them.

The food, when received, was merely ok. I had shrimp with angel hair; the shrimp were tasty and nicely prepared, but the pasta was boiled to death and squishy. There were almost no other visible ingredients in the nondescript tomato sauce: one thin slice of mushroom, a shred of what I guess was basil, and one cherry tomato. Nothing else came with the meal except fresh bread and butter pats. Others were similarly unimpressed. Our servers were friendly, accurate, though overworked, but I think the problem was in the kitchen.

The back room where we sat was somewhat quieter than the overwhelmingly noisy front room and main bar, but still noisy with all hard wooden surfaces.Given that this is a bar/restaurant with sports on all TVs, I'm guessing this is the environment they want though I don't really like it for meals.

A fire was crackling in the big fireplace, and that was attractive and nice. Restrooms were well-maintained. The outer room smelled of cigarette smoke, perhaps from immediately outdoors where people were smoking, or maybe there was some (illegal) tolerance of indoor smoking. My coat picked up that cigarette smell that has been happily missing for many years now from restaurants.

Overall, this was not a winning dining experience. But it is probably fine if you are going for the sports bar.

The place was virtually empty and yet the order for a party of six took forever to arrive. No water was offered and we had to ask for some bread and butter to tide us over until the meals were served. The food was just OK.

If you like sushi, do yourself a favor and visit The Park. I had one of the best sushi meals of all time. The soft shell crab dish was superb and the tuna was outstanding!!!

My wife had salmon with a mango sauce that she also enjoyed.
