For the good part: This motel is located on a very pretty sandy beach on the lake with chairs to relax and enjoy the sunset. They also had a nice pool. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. The motel was very clean and bed is comfortable. There is a small refrigerator in the room.

The negative: It is very old, no hair dryer in the room, no telephone in the room, no clock, old TV.

So it's not a bad place to stay, it's just not pretty. But it was quiet and peaceful.

This is my third time staying at Barton's over a number of years and I am still happy with the experience. The place is very dated(meaning retro in cool terms) but impeccably clean and well kept.

The beach area is relaxing on a nice summer day. The price is right for the accomodations provided.

Like others said the water pressure is really strong. The amenities provided in the room are very limited so be prepared to bring your own toiletries and such.

The pool area is clean and well maintained. They have row boats for use during the summer months. Wifi and a bookstore are all on property.

It is easy access to all the restaurants and things to do in the area.

The buildings are set back a bit from the road which helps somewhat with the road noise. Laconia is a very noisy area anyway when it's busy so I didn't expect a quiet stay.

I would recommend staying here when looking for something in the area that is clean and comfortable and I would stay again in the future if I were in the Laconia area.

Had always driven by this motel and remarked on how well-cared for it always looked. We needed a motel last week and booked elsewhere, but had to find another motel for one night because they had no vacancies at the other place for all the nights we needed. Lucky me, tBarton's did have a room for the one night we needed. Nice big rooms, super clean. One thing I especially like is their bedspreads are white and so you can SEE that they are very clean, unlike a lot of motels that have those heinous dark mult-colored bedspreads. I wish all motels would have white bedspreads. Really, really liked that.
Also, Barton's has a beautiful sandy private beach, and a dock where you can tie up your boat. Big plus!
This place has a lot going for it. I hope I have the chance to stay here again.

Like a time warp, but not at all a bad thing...
This is a classic 1960's motel, that has been lovingly maintained and cared for by the original family. While it is set up like a typical roadside motel, (park in front of your room, all one story)
it has some great things going for it: First, the buildings do not parellel the road, they run perpendicular to it, and are set back a ways,so road noise is not an issue, and when you open your door in the morning, you are looking out at the pool or the lawn, not at a road.
The location is fantastic, there is a big lawn area with picnic tables, and a beautiful private beach and dock. The beach is not adjacent to other beaches, so it is not as if people from other hotels walk by you there. The water in that area seems very clean and swimming is good. There is also a very well maintained pool, not enough lounge chair there though, and no towels were put out for customers, so bring beach towels!! (room towels are typical of a roadside motel, thin! yet, clean)
The room we had was pretty basic, extremely clean and well maintained, but truly retro. The furnishings, tv, alarm clock (with a dial! I loved this!!!) are all clasic 60's hotel, but not worn or grubby at all. The bathroom was beautifully tiled with original looking tiles, in excellent condition, and again, very very clean!
There was a mini fridge and airconditioning, and free wifi. For 90$ a night, I was very very pleased. We stayed there because there was no room at the Margate, but it was an easy walk, on the same side of the road, to go to their beach bar and visit our friends there. (Only a cemetary between the two hotels) Since the Margate cost twice as much, I think we had a great deal!
There is a good breakfast place just across the street, the Union Diner.

So, the only reason I didn't give it a 5 point rating, is that it is not a posh place, but for what it is, it is probably the best little roadside motel I've ever been too.

Room Tip: Rooms closest to the water would be top choice.
