Description: Built like an alpine chateau, with two graduated levels to offer an unimpeded view for every patron, the restaurant's tables look directly out across the lake, with the unparalleled view framed by sweeping wooden archways and vaulted ceilings. When seated, diners have only a few dozen feet of white sand between them and the lake water. Executive Chef Frank Stagnaro regularly crafts new and exciting menus to keep both visitors and locals coming back for more. Savvy customers will notice the menu blends high-end dining with an appreciation for simplicity.

This is one of those very special places that makes you reevaluate the meaning of excellence, and reconsider all your previous 5 star reviews. Edgewood Restaurant, inside the stunning Edgewood Clubhouse, is an architectural marvel in wood and glass. Lake Tahoe views and sunsets are superb from every seat, and the cathedral ceilings sloping down to the huge plate glass windows with the gentle lighting down every beam are just magnificent. And then there is the food! Everything at your table is impeccable, spotless, and of the very best quality: silverware, glassware, linen, everything. From beautifully prepared cocktails, and delicious, perfectly warm ciabatta bread and marinated olives, they get you started right. Wait staff are all wonderful people, very gracious and genuine, and our waiter (on black Friday) was the delightful Guy, with his wonderful sense of humor and faux French accent. We started with their excellent beet salad, and enjoyed the Alaskan halibut and filet Mignon for entrees. Both steak and fish were done to perfection, and both were so shockingly fresh, it was, well, refreshing. We had no room for dessert, but sampled an excellent dessert wine, similar to ice wine. This Riesling "vin de glaciere" was the perfect sweetness for my palate, whereas ice wine is just too sweet (and too expensive). The restaurant also provides free valet service for your automobile. Even this is impressive. When we left, there was no one at the valet kiosk, but a young man quickly showed up, took our ticket, and SPRINTED to the lot where our car was parked. He brought the car around tout de suite, and we were off, very happy customers. Don't miss this place!

We went to this restaurant for their Thanksgiving buffet. The menu looked wonderful. The service was great and the views were spectacular. But the food was really bad. On the carving station they served New York steak, it was over cooked and the meat was obviously poor quality. The squash, green bean and other vegetables were so undercooked, they were inedible. Most other dishes were equally bad. I agree with my husband who commented that this was the kind of meal that made you feel disrespected as a customer. This $75 buffet was a huge disappointment.

Unfortunately I got very ill from the pasta dish with lobster. I should have known better as it has a strong fish smell and the sauce was thin as soup with a strange taste. Staying at the lovely Edgewood this dinner ruined 24 hours of my stay there :-(
I can highly recommend to eat at the hotels bistro instead - that place rocks

The Edgewood Restaurant was highly recommended by friends of ours who visited Tahoe previous to us. As we knew reservations were recommended, we stopped in the day before and made a reservation. About 3 hrs prior to our reservation, we received a confirmation call. Upon arriving, we were very surprised to see a large, very noisy wedding cocktail reception going on in the bar area near the restaurant. At no time, when we chose the time for our reservation or during the confirmation call was this event mentioned. If our reservation was 30-45 minutes later, we could have avoided the disrupting noise altogether. For the first 30 minutes, the restaurant was very, very loud. Our waiter, Mark, asked if we wanted a cocktail or wine and we said we needed a moment to decide. He seemed a bit annoyed that we didn’t know what we wanted. We ordered our cocktails and asked to keep the wine list as we would decide once we knew what we were ordering for dinner. Dinner came, we ate and about 2/3rds if the way through Mark came back and realized he never took our wine order so he said to my husband ‘Wow, that was fast, or did your throw your elk chop under the table’ insinuating how fast he ate. We didn’t eat fast, Mark missed coming to take our wine order. He was very inattentive until time to pick up the check. John, on the other hand, was very attentive and checked on us several times. Needless to say, the time spent at Edgewood wasn’t quite what it could have been. The food was very good but the service of the head waiter left a lot to be desired. If we are in the Tahoe area again, we would check first to see if there is another event and schedule a later dinner time and have any waiter but Mark.

When asking locals for suggestions The Edgewood Restaurant was frequently mentioned. We wanted a place that was away from the downtown local spots and one that offered a varied menu. We found that at the Edgewood. When we were seated at the window overlooking the lake and anticipating the sunset, we were served by Guy, a very congenial and knowledgeable individual. His suggestions were spot on and we enjoyed the Pork Porterhouse and the Lobster Pasta. Both were excellently prepared, very well presented and sizable portions. A desert medley was excellent. This is one of the finer meal that I have had considering the fact that I have extensive internationally travel experience. Don't let the environment fool you as the restaurant is situated in one half of the pro shop for the golf course. Highly recommend this restaurant when your are in Tahoe.
