The park provides for a forty-five minute ride in a bus and we saw lions, jackals, deer etc, all in the open except the leopards which were in an enclosure. A good way to see animals for a fee of Rs. 175/- which is much cheaper than going for the four hour, all be it, much more exciting forest safaris which also require a permit which you have to get either online or through a travel agent.

It's like a big open zoo which has deers, nilgais and of course Lionesses. So you stand highest probability of seeing them without cage.

Second option to see the Asiatic Lion if you can't book a Lion Safari for GIR National Park. Devalia Park is also known as GIR Interpretation Zone. Just 12 KM from Sasan village, here you have a chance to see most of the residents of GIR Forest.

Safari permit can be booked online as well as from the tourist reception center available there. Park is open all days of the week except Wednesday. Indian resident has to pay INR 150 on a weekday and INR 190 on the weekend and on a holiday. Whereas a foreign tourist have to pay INR 2400 on the weekday and INR 3000 on the weekend.

Shame on Safari organizers to have such primitive bus for viting a zoo. If you missed seeing lion/ lioness in Gir forest, you will surely see here as the animals seemed to be drugged so that you will see them. It is like visiting a zoo. Very short trip. Apparently, there is a nice information zone- which they dont tell you and it gets closed so early
